If in doubt, throw penguins.

Rules, rules, rules. We all seem to love rules for some reason. We're told that as children we try to push the boundaries to see how far we can go and that resistance and discipline are a comfort to us.

In fact, there are many rules associated with this website and many volunteers to uphold those rules, a kind of special Police Force, what we in the north call "hobby bobbies". But is this truly the spirit that was intended for this website? Did Douglas Adams want to create a community not dissimilar to the occupants of the 'B' Arc?

Change is brought about by those that feel no limitations. Change is essential to our development. The late Jim Henson knew that rules are essential for some people and not for others, which is why at the end of his company rules he added the line "If in doubt, throw penguins."

Angels

Following a major operation and a lengthy spell in Intensive Care, my late mother described to me how she had seen Angels and their presence made her feel better. When she returned home she would occasionally find feathers which she believed where a sign from her guardian angel.

Following her death in 2000 I was unexpectedly made redundant by my employer. On returning home in a state of shock I discovered a large feather in the middle of my living room rug. I knew this was a sign from my deceased mother that everything would be alright. I was offered a new job the following day.

Since then I have found feathers whenever I have experienced a major life change that eventually works out for the better.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of my mothers death and this morning my 18 month old son handed me a feather as I was leaving for work.

De-Icer

Minus four degrees this morning in Warwickshire and I couldn't get the lid off the de-icer. Today must be Tuesday. I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.
