I'm so happy for you!

I've been feeling quite sluggish today. Can't think why...

I wonder how I'll feel when the new job becomes real - when I start going to my own farewell drinkies and things like that. There will be a surreal feeling after so many attempts to escape.

So, six weeks... that's Christmas isn't it? Just in time for the hols

That's what I was thinking. I might be there for a few days before the Christmas shutdown. My current employer doesn't have a Christmas shutdown; most other departments do. That'll be something I'll enjoy, especially knowing that my erstwhile colleagues will still be in the office.

Are they happy for you, or too ?

A bit of both. The most upfront of them said 'Congratulations! I'm really happy for you, you fing ' Then she bought me a drink. I like her - one knows exactly where one stands with her.

That's cool. Do you know people where you are going, or will it all be new?

It will all be new - I don't even know anyone who knows anyone there. This is a bit scary, but also a good thing considering the way things were in my last job. I need a fresh start.

(I also need an early night. I'm going to do something about that quite soon.)

I slept like a log for rather a long time. It was a very good idea.

Two weeks from now I'll either be elated or despondent. I hope for elated. Latest polls still show Labor well ahead...

Someone here mentioned a result reminiscent of a certain kind of natural event involving large amounts of earth and hillsides, but I don't want to jinx it by talking too soon

I'm quite keen on not jinxing the thing, but I will mention that there's a Sunday morning political show here that has taken to averaging out all the various opinion polls. This week the average has Labor 10 points ahead after preferences - and they point out that the margin hasn't changed during four weeks of campaigning.

So there's cause for hope...

The last few weeks have just been overflowing with reasons to be happy. It's such an about-face I can hardly believe it...

I'm online every few days but only for an hour or so, so it's hard keeping up with everything

I am indeed still in a good mood. This is my longest sustained period of good mood since early 1999, and it shows every sign of lasting.

Even better - it's chucking down rain outside. After so much drought I've developed a pathological fondness for rain...

I have only six more w*rking days until I escape the clutches of the Evil Empire, my employer of the last decade and a half. Sadly, I've a feeling I'm escaping into the orbit of the Dopey Empire instead. I base this on the antics of the Personnel section at the new place.

I'm still in a good mood, though... more or less.

Just catching some stuff here that Rudd is about to apologise to Aboriginal peoples. How is that playing out? I might even manage to make myself watch the full news on Weds.
