Hi BlueBird...thanks for the Solstice poem.
Venus is catching up with Earth again and next year she will be a morning star again. Every six years, like a giant clockwork.

Phred! Love to hear from you! See the Sun shines on the Internet too!
Prior to the "Solstice" poem I wrote 2 others as I was waiting this great event in our hemisphere!
Wonder where are you at this time? Above the Equator or on it or below of it?
I was sick the entire month of December, got a lot of back log to fill.
It was a little accident: I fell on my knee, but did not break it. Than other stuff came upon my peace loving life, upsetting my plans.
Now is getting better and the lovely mild weather is a blessing who ever creats it!
Today dec.25. started with very heavy fog ( was beautiful) and now is raining which is also beautiful Temp. in the 40 F.
Thank you very much for writing and again as always: being so informative.
No, I don't believe cutting down pine trees to have fun with it and than dump it into garbage! Makes me very happy, that this silly way of celebrating passes and normal days are coming back.
Thanks again and keep in touch

I was not around for a while. But things getting better I hope. Troubles with drs, and they had some puzzels to solve, though some questions are still open.
Hope the Happy New Year is kind to you and to your Family!
We can not complain about the weather in N.Y. Long Island region! Mild, lot of rain, but no snow so far!
I'd like to do some creative work again, my health permitting.
Best regards: Blue bird

Hi Bluebird,
The new year has been kind to me. I helped my oldest grandchild build a tree-hut and then spent the new year with old and dear friends.
May your health be well this year and may your poetry be all you could hope for.

Hi Bluebird,
I have been learning a lot about Wiley Post, the great one-eyed pilot who was killed in a crash near Point Barrow, Alaska with Will Rogers.
It made me think of you....

How come to think of me with such an association?
What did I do? ( I don't know of those people you refer to)
The story of this day of Feb.12-06 Long Island, N.Y.: a colossal snow storm with all the trimmings: cold, blowing wind, snow coming by the buckets---- but the most feared event did not come: to loose power.
And like everything else: the storm came to an end after 24 hours: a very slow moving monster this was.
Had lot of time getting to know my new computer and "falling in love" with HIM. (He got to be a he if he has so many nice things to offer.)
Happy Blue bird

I think you once told me you knew a great pilot who was lost in Alaska.
Wiley Post was a one-eyed pilot who was the first to fly around the world with Navigator Harold Gatty. He also had a pressure suit built and flew to an altitude of 55,000 feet before he was killed in Alaska.
We took out plants inside last night because they said it might reach freezing here in Florida.

Hi Phred: Today's priority to let you know about the subject we were talking about:
The story of the "Weather flying" book writer and the best teacher.
This book is here with me, because this was a book when I was learning flying "the weather" like for the religious people the bible.
The author name is:Robert N. Buck. Perhaps you know about him, I don't know.
He started to fly at age 15 in a home made glider.
He was a captain for long time in TWA flying Boeing 707. He had his own little airplane also, single engine Cessna.
He wrote many books, articles, was awarded with various Medals in his short life.
Because he was only in the early fourties when he ended his life in a very tragic way.
Being the most knowledgable man about weather flying one time he took 2 senators for polarbear hunting in Alaska. On this occasion he got snowed in and went down to be buried in the snow with the 2 senators-- never to be found.
When I learned about this event I was really heart broken. Have his picture, but only on E-mail could I sent it.
"weather flying" is a book by a pilot for pilots. A MacMillan publication in 1970.
So much about Bob Buck.

Bob is a nice name. The friendly helpful guy in Information Systems is always named Bob. My real name is Bob, by the way. Once I remember drinking beer with seven other people named Bob. It was very confusing, which is why I am now Phred.
If you want to e-mail the picture of Captain Buck, my e-mail address is [email protected]
He sounds like a very interesting Bob.
