if what i did tonight, was a good thing, why do i feel bad.
Websailor Posted Dec 14, 2009
It sounds suspiciously like he may have a problem with illegal substances - what do you think?

from what happened in the last 12 hours, he is on the way to a safe place.
-
a few minutes ago, the police and what i take a socialworkers have taken him away, apparently this morning was the dead line to cut all power, and he was sat in the dark, burning wood.
-
so i feel a lot more, now that i did do the right thing, although its something i wouldnt normally have got invollved.
-
when he was in the right frame of mind, he was great to know, we had a bbq in the back garden a year ago, i met his mom, sisiter, and father, how couldnt speak a word of english at the time.
-
as i said hpoefully now he will get the care he needs, jimbob

police and socialworkers messd up in a way.
-
i got up this morning, early, as ive both the barrels on the doors to be replaced, and went into the back yard, and looked up, and found the police haddent done a check of the house next door, and two top windows wide open, one with esay acsess.
-
so i had to ring the police, they have to find the lad, to get the key, to come and secure the house
-
one of my locks done, still waiting for the man to come back with one for the back door.

incase anyone is still following this thread.
-
his sisters hubby and his father-in-law, have been to see what they can do to sort the mess in the house, and he as now gone into hospital to be cured.
-
he as signed the house to his sister, so she can either rent or sell, and half the money for him, to restart when he gets straight
-
luckerly the damage in the front room is minamal, and the kitchen needs a good tidy and cleanout.
-
the reason no one came near for a few months, is because he was to unstable, and wouldnt let anyone of the family in. so i now feel, i did right, and set a ball in motion, and hpoefully, "alls well that ends well" jimbob

Hi Jimbob
I wonder if there will be specialised cleaners to clean out the toilet and garage.
It's going to a long time to clear the house, and I won't be surprised if it would take 3 months to clear out. I suppose if any work will be done to the house, it will be done after xmas.
It's good to hear that he'll be receiving specialised treatment.

Dear Jimbones,
I have just found this thread. You actually reacted exactly as you shoud have. Can I suggest two other tasks which you might do.
1. Contact RETHINK
2. Contact MIND
Both these organisations have branches in most places/ You could contact the Local Mental Health Group at your local hospital and let them know. However, that does depend on the local group hierarchary as to whether they will help or not.
Christmas can be such a sad time for those who have problems and are not accepted into society.
When I first came to England in the early 1990's I started helping a friend who had got the post of opening a day Centre for the mentally ill although this was not specifically stated. As I had already done work in this field in south africa I offered to go and cook Christmas lunch on Christmas day.
Do you know that within one day of the offer over 60 people had phoned up and offered help and food and everything like that.
We had the most wonderful day and a lot of people were very happy.
So please accept that you were there for the very reason that you were able to show tremendous initiative and help.
Well done and have a great Crhistmas my dear friend.
Christiane

hi christine
-
its all in hand now, they have taken him to hospital to get his head straight, if its possible.
-
he wont be coming back to the house, at the moment the sisters, husband and father in law, are clearing out anything thats damaged, they are just waiting for a plumber to sort the toilet.
-
there was family tapes and things all over the place, ive offered to sort them out from music and there own, as the family is bosnian, some of the dvd,s will probably be rented from the local shop,
-
later today to be on the safeside, the locks are being changed, as he still as a key, and could decide to leave the hospital if the mood takes him.

Glad things are getting sorted. It is so sad, especially at this time of year. Well done for your efforts anyway.

hi all
-
over the last few days, the hubby and father-in-law, of the lads sister, have been stripping the house, he had ruined, by daubing paint, carpets, walls trashed the microwave, oven and so on.
-
they have a large skip already full, when its all clear his sister will be selling the house
-
some of the money will be to, hopefully give her bro a new start. the house was left to the sister, but her mums last wish, was the lad not be on the street.
-
so in time i will have another new neibour, had a few in the last year, and i get on well with them all. jimbob

Jimbob - you absolutely did the right thing, as your neighbour is now getting the treatment he needs. He needed to be sorted out, whether he recognised it or not, so well done you. Hopefully he will get the treatment he needs & deserves
