So do I. Except it's been put away for the winter, cuddled up to a nice big green Ninja.

someone said to me "I hope you told her the facts of life because you don't want to open the garage door come spring and find a load of baby mopeds doing wheelies on the garage floor!!!"

That cracked me up. smiley - laugh

Very good. Mines chained to the wife's VT250F. We lay the bikes up for winter too (I like my chrome to stay shiney).
Its been off the road for a couple of years due to having our first baby, and therefore a) No time and b) no money to spend on bikes.

I've been riding since I was 16, passed my test on my 17th birthday and really, really want to get back on the road next summer.

What other bikes have you had? Anything good?

My history goes:

Honda CB50J
Honda 250 Superdream (you could ride 250's on L-Plates back then)
Kawasaki Z650B1 (Fantastic bike - got written off in a smash)
Kawasaki Z650B2 (Awful - I just bought the first one I saw to get back on the road, this one was a dog)
Kawasaki Z1000J
Triumph T140 Bonneville (U.S. spec, customised a lot)
Harley-Davidson Roadster 1000 (Iron-head sportster dressed up like a bigger Harley, quite rare)
Harley-Davidson 1200 chop (got stolen <sob&gtsmiley - winkeye
Yamaha SRX600
Yamaha V-Max (Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaa!)

Oh, and I agree, Michael is probably the best driver in the world but I cheer Rubens on too. He's just such a likeable bloke.

I always followed Johnny Herbert when he was in F1 - I met him once and he was a top laugh (and slagged of Nigel Mansell).

smiley - laugh Rubins has such a "you can't hate this guy" kind of face!!

As for Jonny Herbet. He had such bad luck during his career, but I do miss seeing his face in the pits.

Now then, bikes I had? Not that many.

Yamaha XS250 S reg (old S reg, not new).

Kawasaki Eliminator 400 (grey import). Brilliant bike. It had 6 gears. I only got rid because I had always wanted a Virago, and we had the money to buy one brand new, so we did!!!!

BTW: I bought the Eliminator for £800 and part-ex'd it for £900. Not bad hey!!

Going back to F1. I am going to Silverstone for the first time this year. Can't wait!! My fell has been twice before. I had the opportunity in the past, but I really fancy going this year!!

Weird, my ex had a 400 eliminator, jap import. I loved riding it and nearly bought a 1000 eliminator instead of the V-Max! I think she paid about £2200 for it, but that was about 10 years ago.

Johnny was really unlucky, but always kept a smile on his face - what a guy. I met him at Le Mans, after he'd done a stint in the 24 hour race back in '82, I think.

Never been to Silverstone, but I went to the GP at Magny Cours a few years back. Mansell won.

Now that is smiley - weird

Jonny was one of the true Brits in F1 and I agree, he did always have a smile on his face, even when he had is big accident!!

Apparently Silverstone is actually one of the best tracks to go to, although one of the most expensive ones.

RE:Silverstone. Last I heard you had to buy a ticket for all 3 days and I think it was about £200 each - Eeeek!

Its cheaper to go to France or Belgium than to Silverstone (although I heard that Spa is losing its GP).

Schuey will probably dominate again next season, can't see any serious competition to Ferrari emerging.

Do you follow bike racing too? I find it a bit boring, maybe cos I'm not into race-rep road bikes. I prefer drag racing and ran the V-Max a few times at Avon Park (and was soundly beaten cos I was rubbish!).

You are 100% right about the tickets. Expensive I know. There are about 8 of us going in a group (and only two of us are women!!). I need to make sure the toilet facilities are going to be up to standard or there could be some embarrasing moments!!

I hope Ferrari don't dominate again this year. Only because it is better for the sport to have some competition.

Ron Dennis hit it on the head in an interview once.

He said "It's not Ferrari that are dominating, it is the rest of the field who just can't keep up"
