The Romulans are not NAZIs. They do speak a version of German and they give new meaning to the Thousand-Year-Reich. They are good at scaring StarFleet. As you might have gathered they were the ones fighting Starfleet in the clone wars. There is an uneasy truce between them now. they are an empire but their emperor is a shadowy figure--some speculate a hologram--but no-one from StarFleet could testify one way or another. Anyway there are a mess of planets in the empire there, and other than bulletins from the Goths,no news come out of them. Some people think that they are probably better at administrating planets than StarFleet. StarFleet has very little time left over for planets, they insist that their brief is space and spaceways not planets. They really try toavoid being embroiled in local scuffles. All planets that join the Confederation must meet stringent requirements in the sense of not tolerating any armed conflicts for a number of years.

A new meaning? Let's hope it's a better one, or I may have to name someone von Stauffenberg
