Yippee! I knew if I put something as daft as that lot on the top of my page I'd be bound to find someone as weird as me eventually! As far as ferrets go, I found something on the internet :hang on; rummage,rummage----
www.zenferret.com
Yes, they've got all sorts of great stuff on Zen & the Art of Ferrets(even a ferret shelter, Halfway House for Woebegone Weasels!)
I actually did have a real ferret for about 2 years, Felix. I got him as a baby & kept him in my pocket till he was big enough for a harness, took him everywhere -- amazingly enough, never found ANY signs saying "no ferrets allowed"; & I have a theory that I even got a bank loan once when Felix popped up & said "please" to the manager!
His greatest adventure was travelling all the way to France from Bedfordshire, being smuggled into various hotel rooms en-route (yes, he slept in the bed, no, he didn't bite -- not even my brave male partner, but yes he was somewhat smelly). Sadly, he died a few years back, not with me, I'd given him to a guy who had terminal cancer & had always wanted a pet ferret, so I'm sure as far as the Zen bit is concerned he has reached Nirvana!
Lurchers,,, oh yes!! I spent some time helping look after an organic farm in France & the owners had a beautiful specimen, Biff, who spent most of his time with me taking up vast amounts of space in my mobile home. He's still going strong as far as I know, but I left the farm for various reasons & am now living in Angoulême, in a very small but lovely house, with an equally small but lovely garden, which as my partner, Mick-Chan le Frog (check out his Personal Space sometime) points out, would not be fair on either the poor dog or us. And yes, Yoda is indeed a cat, though I'm sure she would resent being classified as such, being Siamese & I suspect an ambassador from space who files regular reports on the behaviour of Humans. She has her own section in the Journal bit if your canine friend would like to talk to her!
Lest I forget; website for Irish Wolfhound:
www.mindtravel.com/iw/maggie.html
-Lots of historical & general info about them, no doubt lurcher lovers will be involved too, if only as a result of breeding accidents!
So, what do you do on Jersey when you're not on h2g2? Are there any puffins there? (yet another of my animal obsessions) Is it true that you have to be a millionaire to live there? (sorry, I'm definitely not qualified on this one, but live in hope!)
I see you also got into the Franglais conversation, a h2 person you might like to visit is Loup d'Argent, he's French but lives in UK now, very friendly, he & Mick-Chan communicate quite a lot.
I'm really glad you got your own page, it's much friendlier than being a number! Hope you're finding your way around h2g2, do you have an Ace yet? I've just volunteered to become one, even though I'm newish myself, so if you want to give me a plug, go to the Aces Home Page (Volunteer bit)!
Right, enough for now, I do go on a bit (you should hear me in real life!!)
& (by the way, I can tell you how to get the smiley pictures if you want; point the mouse on the symbol if you're not sure what it means)
Terri & Yoda
