Hey Terri!
I thought I'd ask because I know you freelance stuff alot..and generally the opportunist entrepreneur so to speak..
..to the point...
Two peeps have asked me to teach them guitar, one likes country of which I have no knowledge really, I play classical but I think I could wing it..the other I am uncertain of what genre she wants.
I am an ok player, I am not talented tho, and have forgotten much - I can read music passably altho complicated timing on tunes I don't know would be an extreme challange..I suppose it could be a fun learning curve for me too...I need the cold cash always...but don't want to rip anyone off...hmm..
Whaddya think?

Hmm: having just had yet another massive row with Bou about "your technique (ie: mine) is wrong" i am possibly biased. He's a conga player using my baby djembe, he plays Arabic rhythm, i play strong regular on the beat bass lines. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't; personally i think his technique is shite but wouldn't dream of telling him that.
If these people are asking you for lessons, they evidently think you are a decent guitar player, whether your style is unconventional or what...personally, i'd take them up on the offer & see how it goes.
Yeah, it will be a learning curve for both of you, but quite often, people who ask for lessons one to one are more into social contact than the actual subject: you end up listening to their problems & then you can turn that into "well, which notes on the guitar express best what you feel right now?"...& take it from there. Just make sure the buggers pay you at every lesson, none of this "oh, i will pay you for a months lessons in a months time."
As to style, technique etc, for Country, if they are beginners, start them off with Eagles Hotel California; it's almost impossible to fail; the bass line is so simple; gives them confidence. If they manage that, get a simple book on Country from Amazon or local store & just keep one step ahead.
The other one sounds like they mainly want to just jam; so do yer own thing, have fun & get paid for it!!!!!
Generally, if you seem to sound like you know what you are doing & have the botox to get away with it & they leave smiling, you've done your job!
