Hi!
Thought I'd take you up on the invite and return the courtesy. Your welcome to drop by on my page at any time.
Can I ask what made you move to France?
And how did you find such a smart ?

LOVELY to see you here! Thanks for hopping by!
How did i end up in France is a pretty long story, i shall do my best to condense it, something i am not very good at (most of my friends say" "well, she's Ok, but she does go on a bit" *sigh)
Travelled around many bits of the world, getting poorer & poorer, eventually & reluctantly landed back in UK, discovered i felt like a stranger in a strange land, 'cos unlike abroad, i was actually expected to realise what was going on. Plus when you've been abroad for that long (20 yrs or more) even if you are qualified & have masses of experience, it doesn't count. Ended up unemployed & doing cleaning on the side. Not good. Advert in the Job centre one day "look after mobile homes in South West France; salary £100 per month...for a couple, but you get free mobile home."
It had to be better than cleaning bogs in Bedford, so we went. And did pretty well, but the boss pulled out after the first season, his wife couldn't handle the repeat bookings etc. So clung on to the mobile home & moved it to an organic farm, spent a year looking after & for NO PAY whatsoever, just keep. Got somewhat tired of the lack of independence & moved to the nearest town, Angoulême & busked & worked in restaurants.
A slight change in fortune when my Compenstaion money for being invaded in Kuwait eventually came through (it only took 10 years, i am still waiting for the interest!) this enabled me to rent a proper place & buy stuff including a computer, hence hootoo.
Various gory stuff traumas, which i won't bore you with.(yet!!) so now here i am; still here in Angoulême, it's far away enough from UK to be "foreign" but still pretty civilised. I can't imagine ever wanting to return to Yookay, after all this time i am pretty much a professional expat.
So...what's your excuse/story????
As for Yoda the (campaigning for a Siamese smiley), well she is just ....superior to the rest of the life forms on this rather boring planet i suppose. I have to remind myself daily just how honoured i am that she has chosen to bestow her presence upon me. if i forget, she shows me her bottom.
Ah c'est la vie & all that! Just spent a very pleasant evening listening to music in the square, jeudi is "free music on the streets" night here, it's at times like this that you feel very glad to live here!

Well I can't say I've moved around quite so much. Say, sounds like there's benefits to be had from moving to war-torn countries though!
I've done my fair bit of roaming nonetheless, more than most.
The relevant bit to my story was moving to Alsace to study for a year where I met my fiancée... who was from Finland. And that's where I ended up.
Straightforward affair really, and matching exactly that of all the other ex-pat British men (only a few women) who came here for the same reason.
While in Alsace the one thing I really liked was the atmosphere on the city centre streets, by day and night, so I can totally understand why you like living where you live!
