You interest me strangely. Do you collect cheese boxes? Did you ever collect labels from triangles of Swiss Cheese? I did, we were known as fromologists.
I live in Jersey and know you part of the World quite well.
I am very keen on lurchers and wine.

Hello " I am not a number" 208370! We really must stop meeting like this; why don't you type a few words into your personal space & then people can contact you directly, otherwise they can only say hello via other people's spaces that you've left a message on. If you're new to all this (as I was only 6 days ago!) & a bit baffled as to what to do, let me know & I'll give you any help I can. You will no doubt be contacted by a "proper" Ace soon, but in the meantime I can help you with the basics if you'd like that.
As far as the cheese boxes are concerned, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're the 1st person to mention them; I only put them into my "title" 'cos I wanted to say something silly really! Having said that, there is in fact a basis in Real Life. One of the many weird things I do when not glued to "The Beast" (my pet name for the computer!) is:
Collect little bits of rubbish from all over the place basically anyyhing that I like the look of, is free & doesn't belong to anyone else -- either they've thrown it away or given it to me 'cos they know I like silly little things, because I make them into 3dimensional pictures which are usually housed inside.....
CHEESE BOXES!!
-- Of which there are a lot around here, it being France & all that; nice ones too, made from tatty old bits of wood in all sizes.
I've got about 6 in various stages of completion at the moment, themes ranging from "puffins" to "desert storm" to "mountain" to "twin towers before & after" Plus loads in the "ideas on the back of envelopes" stage. Sometimes I will add some watercolour paintings as part of the picture. Just given one to a friend for his birthday, he runs a bar so I did a miniature of the interior, caused a bit of comment amongst the customers!
So now you know!
Please get back to me, I'd REALLY like to know more about the lurchers in particular, WONDERFUL dogs, looked afer one once, I'd love a WOlfhound or lurcher, but not practical right now; & Yoda wouldn't be impressed!
A favour to ask: I've posted a question on Bill Gates (here & on the Ask h2g2 site) please add to it, I'm trying to get as many replies as possible.
Speak to you soon, enjoy yourself,
Terri (Yoda asleep, dreaming of !!!

Okay,
Loved your message. My name is Tony, Hi.
Fully understand about the cheeseboxes; I used to do it with shoeboxes and bits of coloured foil from Quality Street. How about doing one called "Captain Corelli's Ferret"? I like ferrets too and we used to run a thing called International Ferret Force 5; tell you about that one day.
The Lurcher is called Jed and is a cross (not angry!) Greyhound/Arabian Saluki he's pale biscuit all over except for black eye make-up and toenails. He does 60 kph from a standing start faster than a Porsche.
Judging from the smilies I assume that Yoda is either a cat or another computer buff - both?
Yes, I am a total newcomer, yesterday was day one and I would love to have a few tips.
Thanks again, talk soon.
Tony.

Hello, Tony, how are you? I'm really daft; I wrote you a LOOONg reply all about ferrets, lurchers etc; & I realise now (3 weeks later) that I must have previwed it BUT NOT POSTED IT!!
So there's a little lesson to learn from me; I've just found out the hard way!
I'll look up the details etc. a bit later on (I've found a great website called "Zen & the art of ferrets"!) & get back to you.
Hope you're enjoying h2g2, it's amazing how quickly you can get into it, a month ago I was a "newbie" too, & today I've become an Ace! (not that I know everything you understand; but I can usually put you on to someone who knows more if you've got any questions)
Hope to speak to you again soon, love to Jed! By the way, if you feel like speaking to a French person, let me know, I've got one right here!
Terri.
