Quille the cynic...TC

hi Dazi I'm an ACE (Assistant Community Editor that you can find more out about at the Aces page if you want) and we greet new researchers to h2g2 and answer any questions that we can. I'm generally called (sometimes shouted in a very obscure dialect) any number of things, one of which being Quille (which you can indeed call me) smiley - winkeye

First off, here are some links to help you around (feel free to ignore them!):

I'm testing this one out to see if it will go to where it should <./>DontPanic</.>

~The <./>Welcome</.> bit, which is somewhat obvious (considering it says welcome)!

~ Also you may want to take the H2G2 tour ( A317459 ) if you haven't yet!

~Some help pages for new researchers-
A725500 - is a Guide entry made made by Rocket Man
A719840 - is a Guide entry made by Feisor

A534953 - has a wonderful list of links made by Shea

After you've taken a look at the GuideML Clinic, you may wish to Spice up your user page using GuideML, so here's a page to help A690518

Also, the smileys smiley - smiley are rampant upon hootoo (h2g2), so you may want to use some. To see the full list click <./>Smileys</.> there or you can click any smiley.

You might also want to check out The Post, h2g2's newspaper full of everything from serial fiction to current news updates ( A572979 )

Now, that we're through with that...Have some smiley - tea and smiley - cake and relax. Go as quickly or as slowly as you want...we'll all still be here tomorrow (probably). If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask by clicking my name at the top of this post (where you will be transferred to my user page with info about myself) or pressing the reply button. Also, feel free to ask anyone else here, most will be more than happy to answer, because everyone here is just so incredibly nice. Have fun searching through the Guide...It gets addictive!

And don't forget you smiley - towel!!!

here's a question...
how do I correct myself if I've posted a misspelled or incomplete post in a conversation (refernce: my "their" above)? Is my only choice the insanely evil posting again? or worse yet ignoring it?

I do believe so...circumventing posts is something that I don't find us able to do. You can post again, no one will mind, or just leave it and most won't catch it or will take it for what it is meant to mean...Also it might help if after writing a post you press the 'Preview Message' button and check for mistakes if you are worried about making them.smiley - smiley

ok that's what thought. (whoa! I just said that same thing to someone like 5 min. ago!)

I don't especially care--if I make a big goof I can just hide behind my smiley - towel--If I can't see them, they can't see me, ne?

I do use the preview button--to check my smiley - smileys!

I believe it! I'm witnessing it. Is it more fun if it's a Freudian Slip?

I am currently in the process of -brainwashing- err, showing people the wonders of H2G2 and the Books. I know not if they have joined.

A Freudian Slip is named after the psychoanalysit Sigmund Freud who said that much of what we did was the result of our unconscious desires, particularly the sexual ones. He's the guy that labeled the Oedipus complex (for men, wanting to marry your mother and kill your father) and the Electra complex (wanting to marry your father and kill your mother).

A Freudian slip, then, is when you say one thing but mean another - sort of like saying to someone you have a crush on that you want to kiss them as opposed to saying that you've missed them. Or, as the joke puts it, saying one thing but mean your mother. smiley - laugh
