Take that star wars!
Posted Jun 20, 2005
Ha, I am laughing at everyone who still thinks Star Wars is the best movie they have seen this year, because I just saw a better one...
Today I saw Batman Begins with Teague, I was kinda looking into it not because I really like batman, but because it looked like a good movie to see in addition to being another hero kinda flik they have been putting out recently, and by far I am totally amazed with it.
Ok, so the basic premise is ow Batman is formed, and its really amazing to see how his trauma from his childhood and events leading up to there have had a serious effect on him. Its not a good vs evil thing, its a "Fight for what you believe in" movie with the additional "How far you are willing to take it" kinda stuff. Great acting all around, special effects rocked, action was intense, and the main character did a VERY good job. I loved Bruce's character, too... the great struggle through his life, how he puts his power into good, everything.
My god, the emotion is there too, from the sadness of his childhood, to the flaws of his later actions, and to the deep moving scences later, its amazing to watch the plot unfold. Long, too.... It was probably 2.5 hours of pure entertainment, and it teaches lessons as well, I learned from it a few things to help myself as well.
I dunno what else to say about it, since I don't want to ruin anything of the story... Everything was well done, its the kinda quality that Spiderman movies had, particularly the second one. I will swear its better than Star Wars if you aren't biased toward seeing it because you are a Star Wars fan, and if you're really into deep and MEANINGFUL stuff, then you'll be blown away. Theres never a dull moment in this movie, you can be sure of it.
And no, I don't want to hear an argument about how I am dissing star wars from someone who hasn't yet seen this movie, so GO SEE IT FIRST!

First completed song, YAY!
Posted Jun 6, 2005
You can now download a song from my website, it is a remake of Theme Of Solid Snake, from Metal Gear 2. You've probably never heard the original, but this is a good one to listen to anyway.

Long concert day! that was fun
Posted Jun 6, 2005
Long day, try picturing this:
About 1 in the morning I get off IM and go to sleep, I admit I coulda gotten off earlier, but I was having so much fun I guess.
2 in the morning I fall asleep. zzzZZZZZZzzzzz
7 in the morning I wake up, feeling really tired, get dressed in black and white for a concert, put my tie in my case and carpool with my friend to the rehearsal, we started at like 8:45
Break between groups, we are like 5 percussionists rockin out backstage meany, with various songs on our MP3 CD players.... One girl and like 4 guys just trading off, and we learned who is tonedeaf and who isn't. wow....... tat was a while ago from my perspective
Ok, around 12 we had a lunch break before the concert, and I wait with the drummers until the girl finds her parents to go with them, then 3 of us walk to starbucks and get MY lunch and one person gets a drink. It wasn't far, only like 3 blocks...
ok, 12:50 and we have gotten back, we just kill time for like 40 mins, talking about life, whatever..... so dull.
Concert goes from 2- about 3:30 ish, I played a couple small parts in the youngest symphony that I learned this morning.... not very hard. Unfortunately my private teacher missed it, car trouble after she just had it fixed, too...... That sux
At 4 I am actually playing with my group, my private teacher did make it to see that one. I played really well, but I kinda got mixed up and almost forgot to come onstage! Really dum, I thought they would come through the green room and I could follow them, but they went around. Lucky there was a TV showing the stage, and the timpani were tuned already....
Of course, nothing lasts forever, and timpani tuning on those beasts at Meany Hall were no exception. I was playing around all through the Beethoven Concerto to tune it right, eventually keeping my foot on the pedal.... not fun.
After, I got to watch the Junior Symphony, which I kinda quit since there was no real part to play in that orchestra for me. I was fine, since I had MUN and shit going on, I didn't really care.
Wow, then we tore everything down, moved equoipment back to the room where it is kept, which reminds me of the funniest sign I have ever seen... I don't remember what the name was, so its a fake one below... It can be seen in the room with all the percussion equipment:
For every piece of equipment you steal, I'll kill you.
Love, Roger.
LOL? Well anyway, I woulda checked it but that room was locked. Then we loaded the stuff that belonged to SYSO in the car and took our stuff. We drove a couple people home, had pizza and BAM it is right now 8:00. No really, it just turned 8:01....
I will field any questions you have about it, but for now I am tired, I'm gonna skip homework and just sleep till tomorrow, I am that tired.
Well, a little IM never hurt anyone, except yesterday (1 AM, 1 AM!)

Gig coming up
Posted Jun 4, 2005
Well, as school comes out, my friend Argentius is going to play in a talant show, and wants me to play drums along with him. It's the song we've been working on, titled simply "Bad Drummer" for now, but I think its an ok song on its own. It is going ot be on the 21st, so we better work on it and make sure we have it down.

Video Games.... good or bad?
Posted May 31, 2005
It's coming to my attention how there's this huge debate going on over whether Video games are good or bad. Here's a little guide to give you an idea of how I feel about them...
Okay, I used to be a gamer, I mean the kind who would go OMG THOSE GRAPHIX LOOK SO SWEET I MUST HAVE THAT! Not anymore. I am not by any definition a "Hardcore" gamer, I only pay attention to a few game series that I already have played. Top ones including Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, etc. At least right now. I pick up a few games here and there, but not that hardcore about it, I just play for a little while, get bored, come back in a few years. I really don't have as much time for them anymore, so I just gave up.
But enough about me...
The good:
Video games can sometimes be movies where you choose the ending that you want. Games in the Metal Gear Solid series have excellent cinematics like a movie, and that's why lots of people play it: Like a movie, you play the main character and save the day, get the girl, whatever. Other games are good just if you're bored, I admit, they can be short just to entertain a few minutes of your time, since games like Metal Gear get very long sometimes.
I like RPGs, where you get to follow it like a movie, and they can be very good a lot of the time. I haven't played Final Fantasy games, but I know those are excellent, and a PS game called Threads of Fate was really amazing for being on playstation. My favorite series, Metal Gear Solid (Yes, the main character is in my picture) has one of the best stories out there. At the end of the most recent game, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, I was literally crying at the very end, it was just so amazing. The climactic end of a series (so we thought) along with the drama you get throughout the game, and the sorrow of the most emotional ending EVER just was so great......
Yes, I was crying, like the first 3 times I saw that ending, I was just......
:'(,',',',',',',',
Oh god, and Game music, too... gotta love it.
Plus, a good way to party with people if you aren't like competitive as hell, like so:
I WIN, YOU SUCK, U'LL NEVER BEET ME U STUPID NOOB!!!!!! HAHAHA LOL
If you hear yourself say the phrase above, you are a pathetic asshole who spends way too much time on games.
The bad:
Games like Grand Theft Auto are really violent, and I just don't care to see that. I mean, you want to go around and do whatever you want in a city, go ahead, I just don't want to see it. And the influence it has on kids...... Don't get me started.
Also, some games just suck because of little flaws I am surprised testers never notice, and it ruins the entire gameplay.
Also, no one really has a good method to rate games, since it's a game it should be about gameplay, not cutscenes, right?
Wrong!
It all goes together, I think people should buy games because they want them, not because they have amazing graphics.
Also, the gaming industry just moves too fast for me, I mean I just GOT a PS2 a couple years ago, like half a year after it came out, now I have to buy a PS3?? You gotta be kiddin me. I mean, right now I only play maybe 7 hours a month, and I need a whole new system just to get the new Metal Gear Solid 4 in like a couple years? YOU ARE NUTS!!!!!!
So anyway, find the right game for you, it depends. If you don't like keeping up, save for a new console and just stay on it for a while, it's usually backwards compatable with earlier games.
Any comments, just leave them for me, I'd be happy to address them!
