Omega 3 - The Mixing Dude

I can't believe it's been over two months since my last update, but then again, so much happened in march I can't really blame myself. I had concerts just about every week, so I couldn't really get past homework I had to do. ANYWAY, I want you to know I am still working around the clock even on break, maybe not on the most important things, but I find them important.

So here I am, still stuck in that rock/hard place thing, since I can't really give a good update here or anywhere else..... But my work with Neir Productions is definitely continuing. I'm probably next in line to do music production and sound design for their new movie, Gangs in Distress 2, which I'm already told is coming along very well.

On the side, I am making my own CD of compositions, I plan for at least 8 tracks, hopefully they will be fairly long, but I have a hard time coming up with Ideas as is. It's hard using Anvil Studio instead of a good program like Finale or Sibelius, but since I kinda work for a budget of $0, it's pretty good. I have 2 pretty far along, but it's hard on me because they are arrangements and I cannot sell them. I've put one of them on my site because it is finished, you can find it at http://members.lycos.co.uk/omegamixer/Downloads/ under the name of ThemeofSolidSnake.mp3. It's an arrangement of Theme of Solid Snake, from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, released only in Japan in 1990 or so. You may have heard it if you listen to old game music from that kind of game. It is a midi file I converted to MP3 because MIDI doesn't keep the synths I set up here, so I get the synths in order and record it myself. And also, more people play MP3 than midi so.....

The second track I am in the progress of making is the song Ripples, by Genesis, one of my favorite songs ever, and It's coming along great. I currently have half of it composed, the solo section and recapitulation at the end still have to be written, and also I will record vocals and drums since the drums synths need a real feel for a song like this. Vocals may be a prob because this song, except for the chorus, is out of my range, so if it really kills the song I'll release it as an instrumental or ASK someone if they can sing it for me.

The newest song is a little weird, it's so simple I dunno why no one thought of it yet. I think the thing that defines it if it HAS already been thought of, is my piece starts in 7/8! It sounded crummy a little, since I always playted it myself in 4/4, so after the initial thing It goes into 4/4. It may end up being an instrumental track, since I dunno what else to do with it. I've got an idea for another song, that sounds kinda like Sarah Mclachlan wrote it, just because of the chord changes and stuff. I am really out of ideas now, so I have to kinda experiment around and see if I can figure something out. I'd still like to do a song WITH written lyrics but it's hard to do, because if you haven't guessed, my voice is not the best sound in the world, that and just now it's REALLY out of tune, but that could be from the morning. We'll see. I have a lot of stuff in my life, it'd be nice to write a song about it.

Well thanks for listening, I guess the crap piles up after a few months of no updates, but I promise summer will give me some more time...
