Experimenting with tablets
Snailrind Started conversation Sep 22, 2004
Hello there. I've been attepting to make tablet using the recipes you posted on one of the Forum threads, and I've been having real trouble. I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to ask you for further details of this elusive delicacy.
1. Exactly what is the texture of the finished product *supposed* to be like?
a) Fudge.
b) Toffoes.
c) Toffee brittle.
d) Concrete.
e) Superglue.
f) Sand.
2. What colour is it supposed to be?
a) White.
b) Light brown.
c) Dark brown, with floating black flakes.
3. Exactly how much condensed milk is in a "large tin"?
4. What is it meant to taste like?
a) Fudge.
b) Neat sugar.
c) Condensed milk.
d) Sand.
5. Are the kitchen utensils and pans supposed to be reusable after a tablet episode?
Thanks for your time.

You seem to be having some difficulty with the recipes. I haven't tried either of them, but they are not unlike any of the fudge recipes I have tried and tablet is, essentially, fudge.
I would hope that the texture and color would be fudgy and light brown. Certainly, any tablet I have ever eaten has not resembled dark brown concrete with black floaty things in it.
The can in my kitchen contains 300 ml (10 oz.).

Thank you.
Now I know what I'm aiming at, I shall give it another go (when I'm feeling brave enough), and will let you know how it turns out.

Um--one last thing: is the condensed milk supposed to be sweetened? Do you reckon it matters? Because that's all I can seem to find....
