I think I have spent my life searching for something and I wonder if I may have found it.
I find I am extremely curious about your unitarian church. I have always been anti organised religion as I see them as hypocritical and authoritarian
However I have always been curious about a higher being, and whether they exsist or not,I feel this makes me an agnostic more than an atheist
I love the fact you have tattoos,I have several and all mine have significance to me
I have difficulty putting thoughts into words, so I hope this makes sense,but I would like to know more about your church and yourself

A lot of people ask what a Unitarian believes. I can only say what I believe.

Myself, I do not believe in God. I don't consider myself to be Agnostic or even Atheist. I see myself as a Nontheist. However, I am a very spiritual person. People ask me how one can be spiritual and not believe in God. That is hard to answer.

The best answer that I can give is that (for me) Spirituality is feeling something, or feeling at one with something beyond yourself. Some people find that "something" in God or Gods. Others find it in other people, in Nature, in Mother Earth....

Unitarians do not have any "laws" which govern their beliefs. Each person is responsibe for making their own choices and choosing their own path in their spiritual quest. The closest we come to having any particular guidelines is our "Principals and Purposes" http://www.uua.org/aboutuua/principles.html .

For most of my life I attended First Unitarian, here in Ottawa. However, 7 years ago, a small group founded the UUFO. I attended and found such a warm and wonderful group of people.

In the much, much larger congregation, I felt lost. I had no role, and I wanted to contribute. As soon as I started at the Fellowship, I knew I had found the place for me.

In our case, if you don't do something, it doesn't get done.

For some people who, like yourself, express being anti "organized religion" even the most liberal UU Fellowship or Church might not appeal. Some of them find the solution in "The Church of the Larger Fellowship" http://www.uua.org/clf/index.html which provides support to people who either can't or don't feel comfortable in attending a UU congregation.
