Whoo hoo!
Posted May 25, 2006
I'm so happy! My West Dunbartonshire entry has got onto the front page!
This is a much needed fillip after a pretty dismal few days. Hopefully when things calm down a bit in real life I'll be able to start guide entry number 2! I think East Dunbartonshire shouldn't get left too far behind!

Well after a lengthier than expected break, I finally have a reliable and (hopefully) long-term internet connection. Not sure how often I'll be posting, but no doubt I'll be lurking in all the familiar haunts.
The past year has seen a fairly major shift in direction, and I am a calmer, happier person for it. Its not worth getting stressed when you work mainly with concrete (no pun intended).

Just popping out for a while. I'll be back
Posted Jul 31, 2003
I have finished my praktikum in Switzerland, and will be returning to sunny Sussex in time for the NCL game against the Saltires this weekend. As I don't have a computer at home that works, I don't know when I'll be back on h2g2.
I'm so pleased I happened across this community earlier in the year. It has really helped alleviate the incredible tedium and misery that has passed for my existence out here. I'd like to thank you all personally, but as thats not possible, this journal entry will have to do.
This is not goodbye, but auf wiedersprechen. I'll be back.
Tschüss,
Perseus

Its Official! Queens are the best football team in Britain!
Posted Mar 28, 2003
It makes me very proud to announce that Queen of the South are the best team in Britain at the moment.
Obviously this statement may come as a shock to some, especially as teams from the middle of the first division of the Bell's league tend not to be even mentioned in the same breath as the likes of M**chester U**ted, Ce**ic and Ra**ers (apologies if the swearing offends), so let me explain:
Queen of the South (the only team mentioned explicitly in the bible, don't you know) recently beat the mighty Ross County of Dingwall 3-0 at Victoria Park.
"So what?" you say. "Does this make them world beaters?"
Well no. However three weeks ago, in the Highland derby, Ross beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 5-1. Last week, in a frankly unexpected case of lightening striking twice, the Caley Jags knocked Celtic out of the SFA cup 1-0. Altogether now....
Super Caley go Ballistic, Celtic are Atrocious!
The Bhoys are defending Scottish Champs, so its fair to say that the Doonhamers (as Queens are also known) are the best in Scotland. But why stop there?
For the sake of argument, let us assume that the aforementioned red lot from Salford (Beckham and co.) are the best team in England. And before anyone mentions M. Wenger of Highbury, I consider his team to be French.
Well in a recent Tesco Trolley trophy (OK, Worthington Cup) game Liverpool beat MU 2-0.
And last week, Celtic beat Liverpool in the Uefa cup by 3-1 on aggregate.
So by convoluted logic, and assuming that Andy Goram has a good game for the Dumfries men, I can confidently predict that should Queens play Manchester United in the near future, the score will be 14 - 2 to the Doonhamers.

attempt to coerce myself into writing something
Posted Mar 21, 2003
Perhaps if I write something here to the effect that I must write something here, I will eventually get round to actually writing something here.
Does that make sense to you?
