Saw your name in the Who's Online list, and I was wondering... Are you an Alan Dean Foster fan? Because there's a character in one of his books named Izmir the Astarach...
Anyway, just thought I'd stop bye and say hi

Yes - I'd have to say that I am a fan. I have a pretty decent collection of his books, though they're all in a box at the moment because I don't have a bookshelf.
I started using the name Astarach a few years back for some online game that I don't remember. I thought it was a name from an Alan Dean Foster book, but when I went looking, I couldn't find it. It was bugging me for ages, so I'm really glad that you've told me that I'm not crazy (well, that I wasn't crazy then). If you could tell me which book it came from, I'd be even happier - I've got a feeling it was one of the Flinx books, but I'm a long way from sure (Australia's a long way from everywhere).
Gotta go now - I have to find out what a Mufflewhump is...

*gets up, checks bookcase--is glad to see she was right*
Glory Lane
I wasn't *entirely* sure that it *was* Izmir that was the Astarach-I thought it may also have been the blue-and-green stiped guy in one of the Flinx books... I've read all the Flinx books, but the only one I own is Mid-Flinx--the rest were my dad's...

I'm slipping... (I blame preggie-brain-rot) I never actually *gave* you a mufflewhump
*hands Astarach a mufflewhump*

Oooh - a chocolate mufflewhump. The perfect afterdinner treat (especially seeing as it gives all the vitamins contained in a good serve of vegetables)
Talk about slipping - I own Glory Lane (though I've probably only read it 2 or 3 times....maybe 4). Must be time for a re-reading.
I don't think I've read all the Flinx books (*mumbles something un-nice about public libraries*), though I've bought all the ones I've come across.

Yeah.... Doesn't it drive you nuts when they have all the books of a series you've not read yet... except 1. And it's never the last one that's missing, so that you can just pick it up later *rolls eyes*
Hi Astarach!

Yep - that's what drove me nuts. But what I really hate is reading a book, getting to the end, then finding out it's part of a series that the library doesn't have the rest of. It happened to me with "A Call to Arms", though fortunately my father ended up finding and buying the rest of those.
Just recently I read 3 books from a series my housemate owns (thinking it was a trilogy), but when I got to the end, I found out there must be at least 1 more book.

Argh! Good series, too, likely, or else you wouldn't have cared...
