Hi I'm one of the welcoming people on the site and we're called ACES (doesn't that sound great) but it really means assistant community editors (which sounds all formal and not so ).
My name is Sally and I'm here to say hello and to help out if you have any problems. Luckily I've always had books that engage me, but I do believe that most of my friends who don't read as avidly as me only haven't found the books they like yet. And 'normal' school books are so boring that it puts them off.
This is a page with a few helpful links, so that I don't have to write them out lots of times (included is the smiley page) They should help you if you get a bit stuck.

If you have any problems just reply to this message and I'll see if I can help, or at least find someone who can.
Enjoy and have fun.

Thanks for the welcome Sally,
I am really just getting my feet sorted but hopefully I shall be finding my way around the site and getting the most out of it in the non-to-ditsant future.
Thanks also for the offer of help, I may well take you up on it if I get lost.
Ta

Hi Sally,
Sorry its been a while, I have only just noticed your question above.
To explain. 'Goatboater' is the result of my quietly embracing a friendly insult. I am a canoeist and due to living on the coast (West Wales) I take the boat out onto the surf quite a lot. Many of the guys and girls out there are board surfers and are not always keep on us 'boaters' riding 'their' waves.
A few years ago (and no doubt during a drunken evening) a couple of fellow lifeguards (and surfers), coined the term 'goat-boaters' for kayak surfers because they 'Go(a)t no Legs'. Due to my proximity (and 'broad shoulders') the insult got thrown my way and I have embraced it ever since.
The term has spread and is heard round most of Wales / Cornwall, usually used by people describing incompetent or unsociable Canoeists on the surf. However, I regard it as a term of endearment and have, since that day, been proud to call myself a 'Goatboater'.
Key: Complain about this post
