the recent flooding has got me a little worried about my family back in Kilmarnock
although they don't live near eather of the rivers so I'm sure they will be ok
there is a ford river crossing in the middle of town where you cross next to the castle and it floods in even small amounts of rain becoming uncrossable this is the river "Marnock water" which is a tributary of the river Irvin which also runs through the town it is a regular occurrence for people to have to be rescued when they try to drive over the ford even in 4*4s
you think this would stop people from attempting it in the rain but alas sometimes people never learn
a few years ago the river Irvin burst its banks in 2008 leading to many of the towns shops having to close, you see the river irvin runs directly under the town centre which is essentially a large bridge in some places...

Hope everyone stays safe. Just seen the forecast and there's more stormy weather with heavy rain on its way across the whole country in the next 36 to 72 hrs.

There's something about driving 4*4s makes people think they're invulnerable. We see that round here every year when it snows and there's always somebody who ignores the 'road closed' signs and heads out over the passes only to get stuck and need rescuing later.

yes, you do start to think that such people should be charged for the privilege but I don't think anything would be gained other than a load of complaints
