Hello I just popped in as I saw your posting in the music quotes room. I just posted the examples of those songs to see if anyone could remember them when they first came out in the 60's and 70's.
BTW please tell me what is a cover version?
I was also a LD user and my name was either PADAWAN4 or jediwoman and I frequented the chat rooms and the political room at the library.

Hi Kat.
I remember the songs. In fact, Sugar Sugar caused some embaressment because they used to keep getting me to do that silly dance at school. (The one from the cartoon version of the song. Do you remember it?)
Hate to admit it, but I was really good at it.
A `cover version` is when a later singer or band comes along and re-does a song.
Its like Anita Bryant sang the original `Paper Roses`, but then later, Marie Osmond came along and did a `cover version` of the same song.
Loads of bands and singers do it now. The last one I can really remember is ... oh whats his name... the one that came 2nd in Pop Idol? He went into the charts with `Unchained Melody`. But that was a `cover version` of the ORIGINAL song by The Righteous Brothers.
Hope I`ve explained that properly.
Basically, what Kow was saying is.... I may remember the originals but HE only remembers the `cover versions`.
As for myself.... I didnt post to the library or chatrooms. It was just something I didnt feel comfortable with. (I used to lurk of course, but thats different.)
I`m glad you left a message. Are you doing a lot of reminiscing? I am!
Take care.
Jane
