On the proper attire

Much of life becomes easier with the proper attire. I suggest the following:
A trench coat: I say this knowing full well you may live in a very warm place. Even if you do, you may travel somewhere colder, so it's best to be prepared. Besides this, in makes other shy away from you. Great for carving out a little space when you find the need. When not needed it can be kept in your backpack. I'd recommend you get one with a removable liner for vaying degrees of warmth, and sufficient pockets. Something to hold an army knike, keys, walet and anything else that seems vital at the time.
Jeans: Good, strong clothing, and if ythey do get riped around the knees, you don't have to toss them out or mend them, just keep wearing them. These are good in rain or shine and keep the sun off your legs, avoiding burns.
A golf shirt: Better for wiping CDs in a pinch than a t-shirt. Basically, a golf shirt is much like an affixed towel.
Steel-toed boots: Protection from heavy things dropped on your feet (cans, hammers, feet of novice dancers) Given my mom recently fractured a bone in her foot with a can, the importance of proper protective gear cannot be underestimated. Even better, you can easily get quite water-resistant boots that keep your feet dry when walking in the rain. Forget tennis shoes!
A pager: Instant escape from any worrying development. Look worried, grab the pager and shuffle off with a quick, mumbled apology
A large backpack: Perfect for carrying any number of useful things, from a spare pair of clohs, to a small tool set, to a 1st aid kit, lunch and of course your towel. These can also hold laptops, chainsaws and most anything else you may find of use.
A belt: (far more comfortable to place a pager on than the top of your pants)
Saftey glasses: if you work in certain areas (such as industrial plants), small things will fly around at high speeds. Also great around kids playing with poined sticks, looking to poke eyes out.
A small, strange charm necklace or bracelet that can't be missed: This keeps closed-minded people away, and may start conversations with those whose curiosity yet lives. Great for when you're not wearing a trench coat.
An umbrella: Need I explain?
A hat (optional): I use a hat in place of an umbrella for convenience, it's good for light downpours. Also good for protecting one's face from sunburn.
