Welcome to the Guide! I'm an Assistant Community Editor, and I want to make sure you are getting comfortable in the community! Have some or and relax!
You may want to take a tour at A317458. There is a good smiley list at A155909. Learn how to dress up your personal space at A768594, where they reveal the mysteries of Guideml. Or meet new friends by joining one of the many clubs and societies listed at A660340!
So is your kiddo into the terrible twos yet, or is it pretty smooth sailing thus far? I love kids that age, they are so cute.
Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free! To find out more about me, click on my name at the top of this post.

Thanks for the message, I have bookmarked the guideML page so I can go back to it later. I think it is going to take me AGES to learn about this site. That said I have just submitted an article for peer review so will be interested to see how that goes.
My boy turned 2 a week ago - and the tantrums started right on cue.
I've got to check out the volunteers page and find out what I can get into here as well. I wish I'd found this place when DNA was still alive. Oh well.

I am impressed! I STILL haven't submitted an article yet.
I too wish I had found this before DNA became a late, great. I found this site through reading Salmon of Doubt this summer. I cried when I found out he passed away.
I think volunteering here is great! My advice is to cruise around for a couple weeks, and get really familiar with the guide before deciding on what volunteer work. I joined the Thingites as soon as I got here, and met so many nice people since... you may consider joining a social club if you have the time.
A two year old neighbor of mine did not think his mom was fixing dinner fast enough today. He grabbed a can of creamed corn and kept on holding it over his mouth to make his point!

At least he wasn't bashing his mother with it!

Too true! They are really well behaved children, I don't mind them around at all. I love little kids, for a while I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher, but lack the discipline.

Whereas I wanted to be a university professor because I like a good debate - something you can't generally have with the littlies.
After I've gotten used to this site I might volunteer to be both a scout and a sub-editor, I think.

Sounds good! Both worthy pursuits .
I'm going to study Creative and Professional Writing next fall. I love good debate too! I actually got to debate on the floor of the house of Representatives in Lansing, Michigan in a mock congressional meeting that was actually covered by the press! I did it through the Student Statesmanship Institute, and had a ball.
