Over the weekend myself and Moonglum were discussing the US a lot prompted by reading reviews of Clarkes book about his experience of 9/11. We are shocked and amazed by how the US continually stops others from doing what they themselves do, and at what they can get away with. Your links just seem to add to that feeling Abbi, it is such a bizarre situation.

This is deeply scary and insane. I am reminded of the attitude of American ownership evidenced in science fiction TV - Stargate SG-1 is an example. It is subtle (not very subtle) propaganda...

Thanks for those links abbi. Scary, yes ... insane, yes. I sometimes stop and wonder ... what's it going to take to stop the American Military? And start thinking about developing mini-atom bombs ... super poisons and biological agents ... ground-based laser weapons to knock satellites, planes, whatever, out of the sky ... in short the sort of escalating arms-race that these sorts of moves could precipitate and I just wonder ... 'do we really want to go there?'

I saw something the other day, I didn't read the story, about suitcase nukes. I should have read the story (it was on a website I was passing through)because I am not sure as to whether the (American) guy was advocating them, or against them...
