hullo,
As you may (or may not) have noticed I've been involved in a string of comic book superhero entries (Spider-Man, the Punisher, Daredevil, Hellboy, Sandman). I would like to get a Batman entry into the guide and was wondering if you'd have any objections to me doing this? I noticed the rogue's gallery, but there's so much more to add about the world of Batman and Gotham City. (ie: why bats. alfred, robin, batwoman, nightwing, the batmobile, wayne manor, the bat signal, frank miller, archie goodwin, bob kane, the tv series (adam west and the animated ones) and of course the new upcoming Batman Year One movie.) Would you prefer an update of the rogue's gallery or perhaps a collaborative entry on Batman? Let me know, as I've a Catwoman Entry in the pipes at the mo', what with the new Halle Berry film soon to be released too. smiley - cheers

I think a separate entry for Batman would be fine - the reason I did a rogues gallery one was that I didn't feel up to writing a complete Batman one! I'd be happy to work on a collaborative entry, or to leave it to you, but either way, I think the Batman's Rogues Gallery entry would be able to remain, as it's longer than what would be included on his villains in a general Batman entry.

I had noticed your entries, but as they're mostly about characters I know little about, I didn't have much I could contribute! I have read them, though.

My favourite aspect of Batman's world is his supporting cast, particularly Alfred and the police (love, love, love the Gotham Central series), but also the others, even the minor ones like his annoying neighbour (Devlin Davenport) and the like.

I'm involved with a DC Comics fan-site: http://www.dcuguide.com , where I write issue summaries for the Bat-books and various others, and co-ordinate the ongoing who's who listings. I guess I'm just a big smiley - geek!

Righto, I'll begin an entry on Bats, do what I can, then submit it into the Writing Workshop. That way he'll get all the input he can. I figure what I can do is when it comes to the villains section just link to the Rogues Gallery, if you're happy with that? Maybe an Update is in order too? That way we can cross reference? Bats is about the only DC character I have ever liked so do want to make a good job of the entry. Mind you, someone needs to push a Superman entry in. After all I guess he DID start it all. I wanted to add the Teen Titans in along the way, but with so many changes through the years it is a big project. Maybe later. Anyways, babbling now. Will keep in touch regarding the dark knight detective.

Teen Titans is great, but the idea of an entry would indeed make me want to cry...

I look forward to the Batman entry appearing!

Right, I've begun - A2912988smiley - erm It's just a brief at the moment, but let me know if you can think of things I missed. Am working on bulking it out offline. I would have liked to have added a h2g2 link about Bats (the flying mammals) in general, but there isn't one! Oh well...

Cool. smiley - smiley

A couple of comments:

The second Robin was Jason Todd.

There is a new Batgirl now, Cassandra Cain, who's been around for about four years.. And way back when there was a Bat-Girl and a Batwoman, Bette and Kathy Kane, but you may not want to mention them.
