Dear all
I am a friend of an ancient british thespian.
No, not that close a friend.
We met at a meeting of the Soho Society and he told me about his career in west end musicals.
Over his many decades he has amased a wonderful collection of musical recordings, with some of the rarer original cast recordings
The collection starts in 1895 and runs till 1950.
Over 1000 recordings, including a few early Broadway shows.
The gentleman in question wishes to remain anonymous.
I would like to help him find a generous buyer and a home for his music
which is dear to him.
Please reply with any sincere offer or advice.
Regards
frithstreet

If I wasn't a librarian and thus actually had any money, I'd definitely be interested! I'm sure there must be libraries in London who would be interested in the collection and there are certainly many collectors of such material - perhaps advertisements in theatre-related publications would be a good place to start? I am positive that such a collection will find a 'generous buyer'.

Hi David B
Thanks for the reply.
I found your article on Musical Theatre recordings very helpful
in understanding the subject.
If you are interested in the recordings and need a copy of an obscure show let me know. If my friend has it, I could make you a copy.
Good luck with the acting.
