I hope so... it would be nice to have covered links to outside pages, and not have the URLs cut...

Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

Ok, there are two mistakes here:

Here's what the Guru said:

First of all, on re-reading the problem I noticed that you said it was a "message" you were using GuideML in. GuideML is not for use in forum posts. Instead, to link a URL you simply add the URL to the text and it gets automatically changed into a link.

Secondly, your link will still not work. URLs used on site must not contain @ signs. This is for security reasons (you can perform quite a nasty trick on users using @ signs in URLs) so will not be added in to the parser. However, the @ sign in that URL is unlikely to be needed anyway. @ signs typically are used (benignly) in session IDs, only session IDs only make sense to the original computer anyway.

Hope I've helped.

shucks...

"Hope I've helped."
You have, even though it's not exactly the answer I was looking for. I guess I won't be linking to apple discussions then. Thanks for trying!

Actually, you might try going to the Gurus, and seeing if there's an apple fan out there that can help you. You can find them through the search engine.smiley - smiley I always see if there is one online that I can get a faster answer from (they usually have it in their nickname, just like the ACEs) you can find them on "Who's Online" button on the left of your screen.

Well, I certainly hope you're well now. Substitute for a teacher at a wedding? How does that work? Was the teacher at the wedding? The way you said it sounds like you attended a wedding in place of a teacher. What a wonky language! Things are mad busy around here... last (maybe) year of uni, 7 courses, 2 labs, teaching and doing tech support. If the definition of chat involves frequent postings within a limited amount of time (say, an hour), it's out of the question. I'll probably only be checking on this place once a day before I snooze off. Thank you for the update!

No, no... I mean like once a day, tops! I'm too busy to be on all the time. As a matter of fact I'm gonna smiley - run get some smiley - zzz right now!

Typing to fast to be coherent. The teacher was at a wedding and I had to sub. I'm not a teacher, but I play one at the school (when they need me to smiley - winkeye). Is that what you're studying to be, a teacher?

I like the term "wonky"... what can it be used for?

I see now. I'm studying bioneurotechnology (biological stuff to do with the nervous system and developing technology). I won't get into details here, but it's tediously fun. I got a teaching certificate (not a full degree) a couple years back, and this is my third semester teaching. I only teach one course per semester just so I don't become my own lab rat/guinea pig. Thus far, I've taught chemistry, calculus, and now biology. I used to tutor French, but haven't got the time anymore since a day is only 24 hours long. I miss it, but I guess it's a good thing.

"Wonky" can be used where you would describe something as abnormal, unsure, unstable, or any odd behaviour. I quite like it myself. For example, if my car/truck isn't running quite right, I call my brother and say "Something's wonky with my car/truck" and he asks what's so wonky about it, so on and so forth. Get the idea?

Going postal must be wonderful! I can totally understand that... Back in '95 or so, Canada Post mail carriers went on strike, it only makes sense that "going postal" would mean crazy or unstable. Cool!

Not only that, but here in the States, back in the early and mid-nineties, a bunch of them shot up post offices in fits of uncontrolled anger and frustration... pretty scary actually.

My new news is that I got a tattoo yesterday... I like it a lot!

Cool... What's it look like? Any pics? I'm thinking of getting that hunk of skin between my thumb and index finger on my left hand pierced... Gotta wait until I'm done before I can pull something that noticable off smiley - sadface Only one more year!! I can't wait...

No pics yet (they wouldn't be complimentary... everything is still swollen). It's under my ankle, in purple, and says "I am to my Beloved and He is mine" in Hebrew alephbet. It's the only one I'll ever get, and I'm very pleased with it!

I personally couldn't pierce that area you want to. I worked as a massage therapist a while back, and that area is so full of nerves and acupressure points, not that it would hurt so bad, but that I am always using mine for treatments.

I'm usually pretty leery of piercings and tattoos, but I guess everyone knows what's the right expression for themselves.

I probably should've waited a year on mine... I have to hide it while on campus (not hard, except it's healing now and has to "breathe". Fortunately it's small and no one has noticed.

Why Hebrew? I don't know of many people who would go for that, but I can understand it... I'd go for Greek or Latin... Hopefully it'll heal fast... Winter's coming (at least up here it is) and you wouldn't exactly want to cover a tat that still hurts or needs to breathe.
The only reason I'm waiting so long is cause stupid musical theatre doesn't allow "odd" piercings (not even nose, eyebrow, lip/tongue, bellybutton or upper ear), any tattoos or henna. Personally, I think it's a little ridiculous, but I can see how it would take quite a lot of stage makup to cover a tattoo, and piercings are simply too difficult to hide if you can't take out the metal.
I don't imagine mine will hurt all that much. I've tried it twice in the lab (with a fellow researcher), but chickened out before the skin even broke. It's tough finding a spot that's good to pierce and doesn't have a lot of neurons running through it.

I chose Hebrew because the text is from Song of Solomon in the Old Testament Bible, and was originally written in Hebrew. I love henna tattoos (mehndis) and draw them on people as a side business.

Tatts aren't so hard to hide, my cousin has a large one she had to cover for work, and there is a special tacky makeup designed to cover them completely. Mine is doing well right now, and isn't as puffy, but I still am giving it plenty of no sock time.smiley - smiley

It's funny, but the earlobe is almost made to be pierced... it gets just the right amount of circulation to prevent infection, and has a minimum of nerves and such.

A gal on my volleyball team last year got penalized because the ref had said no jewelry or barretts and she had a cartilige piercing she wouldn't take out. She had to sit out the second half of the game.smiley - wah
I can see why, though, it was for her own safety. You'd think theatre would be more understanding.

Makes sense.

The thing about covering tats is the fact that I probably won't pay for something especially just for covering them. I'm just too lazy, so I figured not getting one in the first place would be a pretty good route to take. I might get a red maple leaf just above my ankle though... smiley - smiley

Jewelery never got in my way, but I've seen some pretty nasty things happen. I once gave myself a concussion in a volleyball game... I [used to] have a habit of diving with my head down. Can't remember why. Anyway, this one game we played was on a concrete gym floor and when I dove for the ball, I collided with a team mate, and couldn't get my head up in time so I hit the floor pretty hard. That really sucked... Then in a soccer game 2 years later I got another one when an opponent tripped me, I landed with my head near the ball, and another member of the opposing team [who had really bad aim] missed the ball.

In some ways I find the theatre a lot more stringent than sports teams, but I can see how it saves time in the end... Sometimes. Ah well!
