The rant continues...but in a new venue.

>>The Tories have lost the last two elections, and they won't win the one that's coming up next either. They are simply not believable anymore. They may say that they are coming up with many bold and interesting policies, but no one is listening anymore.
It is rather tricky to make policy when your opponents have nicked all your best ones. We have never seen a labour government so far to the right! As for winning, yes labour probably will, getting rid of Blunkett will have helped, if they push Blair out to then labour will be unbeatable.
Yes, Hague was too young and inexperienced. But more than anything else he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I think he will be back. Firstly because he's a thoroughly good chap, and secondly because he's an excellent speaker. So for the image conscious media frenzy in which politics is conducted he must surely be perfect?

This is all true.
I heard a discussion of Radio 4 a few months back, were several Tory party memeber were discussing the fact that they have no chance of winning the next election, and the reasons for this.
One of them came up with an interesting point. He said that the Tories are coming up with some good ideas, and then Blair picks the best bit of that idea, and leaving the scraps, and then says "Look at them, look at their scraps, aren't they useless!" He did have something of a point.
And Hague was absolutely the worng man for the time. But, were he twenty years older, he could well have been the right man, and his hairline wouldn't be so obviously out of place. So, give him twenty years, and he could make quite a credible leader of the Tories.
You have to wonder if the Tories should switch completely and become left wing. Labour is now clearly a right wing party, after all.
