Copyright on h2g2
Deau Started conversation Dec 24, 2004
Hello there,
Just a quicky, over a concern I have about copyright on h2g2. I thought you might be the person to ask.
As far as I'm aware, the BBC have unlimited copyright over anything posted on h2g2, beyond that of the authors. Ignorant of most copyright issues, I shall endeavour explain my concern.
I am presently writing a series of short stories. These are all interlinked, and I intend to eventually compile them as a coherent novel. A novel, which, might, possibly, maybe, be published one day as a book. As each story takes shape however, I would very much like to share it in the AWW community.
So, my concern, finally, is: If I post these stories, the BBC will presumably own the copyright. To me, this sounds as if it might cause distress to a publisher when the project is complete. Is there a conflict here? Do i still retain rights over my work after I publish it on h2g2?
Gosh, it feels good just getting it off of my chest, actually.
I hope you know the answer! And Merry Christmas!
Yours,
Discus.
