Hey, Jodan -
Great entry! I think Hamilton was the most intriguing player during our Revolutionary days, although he was occasionally his own worst enemy. Anyway, he definitely needs his own entry in the Guide.
Sorry it's taken me so long with this. I have a good excuse, though. My apartment complex has taken in several evacuee families from New Orleans, including 4 generations of a single family (Channel 12 has been following their story since they arrived in Cincinnati). Anyway, I've been working with the management around here, chasing down supplies, moving furniture, and generally being busy. HooToo has gotten the short end of the stick...
Anyway, I have a few questions:
In the 3rd paragraph under 'You Can't Always Get What You Want': 'However, the mood eventually got so partisan that in 1793, when Hamilton contracted yellow fever during an epidemic, Jefferson accused him of faking the disease, and a Federalist and Republican method eventually developed on how to treat yellow fever.'
I assume that each party developed a different method? *shakes head* Politicians always make idiots of themselves when they talk medicine. (Note how I refrain from mentioning Senator Frist and his diagnosis of Terry Schiavo based on a video....)
In the 3rd paragraph under 'I Can't Get No.... Satisfaction': 'He was shunned by his own party and disliked by the Federalists, so he increasingly became politically irrelevant.'
Does 'He' refer to Hamilton or to Burr?
And in the letter to his wife at the end of the article, the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph: 'If it had been possible for me to have avoided the interview, my love for you and my precious children would have been alone a decise motive..'
Is that 'decisive'?
The edited version is at A5104333. Once we sort out my questions, I should be finished. As usual, please let me know if you spot something you'd like changed...

Hi quizz
That's a great excuse. I can't think of a better one. Don't mind waiting at all.
I might tune in to Channel 12 tonight and see about that family. We get some of your stations here in Dayton, for whatever reason. Actually, for some reason our local CBS has never worked on my TV and I've always had to use the Cincinnati one
Anyway...
"I assume that each party developed a different method? *shakes head* Politicians always make idiots of themselves when they talk medicine. (Note how I refrain from mentioning Senator Frist and his diagnosis of Terry Schiavo based on a video.... )"
Actually, if I remember correctly, and this is somewhat complicated... Dr Benjamin Rush of Pennsylvania was a strong Republican. He developed a terrible method of treating yellow fever that probably killed more people than it saved. I think it involved letting out lots of blood.
An old physician friend of Alexander Hamilton, whose name was... Not important (I can find it if you need it, but I can't recall offhand) treating AH and Eliza with a system based on cold baths and hygiene. Hammie got better so quickly that he started spreading around the news of this wonderful cure. Republicans naturally distrusted it, because Hamilton was their anti-christ, and voila... I think you get the idea.
"Does 'He' refer to Hamilton or to Burr?"
Burr.
"Is that 'decisive'?"
I believe it was. I think I ended up hand copying that quote out of a book, but I thought I got all the typos out.
I can't particularly think of anything I want changed other than those things... But do you think the Introduction works alright?
Thanks very much

I think the intro works just fine - it really reflects how divided people's opinions of Hamilton were. (Sympathy for the Devil - heh, heh.)
I'll fix the three items I had questions about and send the Entry on to the Editors before they take away my nice, shiny badge...

Sympathy for the Devil. That's a good one. Wish we could have headers for the intros I don't think we can anyways.

Nope, no headers for the intro.
I've returned the entry to the Editors. The link to the Tammy Wynette site kept giving me errors (permission denied, etc) - which is weird because it was working just fine a few days ago - but I changed the link to Wynette's bio on the Country Music Hall of Fame site. If that's a problem, let me know and I'll ask the Eds to change it back...

Don't care at all. I had a hard time finding a link to Tammy Wynette I think.
Thanks. Oh, and vote for Hypatia
