How are you cl? I am looking forward to seeing you in the summer, (and have been enjoying the discrete debates between you and ~jwf~ about East and West and Which is Best. "Don't be rediculous! Canadians don't fight!" was GTB's first reaction when I told him. He has enjoyed the thread too I know).

So - what's up? Or is that a veil to be discretely left in place?

Here is a smiley - hug in anticipation of real hugs when we meet!

Of course we don't fight, it's just sometimes those East of the Rockies don't realise that they are incorrect! Oh, dear I do believe the mountains were put there to cage us insmiley - laugh

smiley - hug back to you, although my sig oth has warned me sternly thay I should be very careful *you don't know anything about those people!* Paranoia means never having to say *hello*smiley - biggrin

Busy time for work for me right now, although I am in the middle of a few days off in preparation for it. Home dramas continue, followed by scattered bursts of mock gunfire and optical lightning bolts.

How are you?

Well of course you are right to be careful. And of course you don't know anything about us. In fact, this whole thing is in many ways an exercise in making the unreal real, which is what has grabbed my imagination so much, I guess. Oh, and the scenery, of course!

I think GTB and I have to work out a way of meeting people which does not compromise anyone's safety or their anonymity, including our own, which is interesting.

At organised H2G2 meets the badges show peoples user-names not their real names, (unless they are dumb enough to use their real name, like me). I guess we are going to have to do something like that. We are already identifying researchers' locations by state not by town, and the fine detail of the itinerary is a matter for GTB and me, and not for general publication. GTB and I will probably have to know email addys and cell phone numbers, and everyone we meet will certainly need to know ours, but the standard rules of 'meet in a public space', 'tell someone when you expect the meet to be over' apply of course. No-one knows that I am not Bonnie to his Clyde.

I was thinking about the risk of touring the US in a van with a guy I have only met twice. But it is not as if no-one knows that we are doing this together, or where we will be at any one time. If we do go awol then I hope that it should be pretty easy to pinpoint where we were at the time.

Cheerful subject, eh? But - yes - your Sig Other is right. Luckily although I have a Private Life, I don't have a Significant Other whose opinion counts on this one! smiley - winkeye

smiley - cheers

Well said, well planned. I expected as much!smiley - biggrin Sally's paranoia is part of another problem as well, though. Not to worry, I do enough of that on my own.

I hate to think you will come all the way to Vancouver just to see me. It sounds like a few others have thought about coming here, I hope that happens.

btw, you must let me recomend towns to visit for meals and a stay on the way through southern BC. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised, especially after the praries.

Oh, dear. I don't worry, but you have my unspecified sympathy for your unspecified situation, whatever it may be.

Yep - we are coming to Vancouver to see just you! Oh, and eat smoked salmon of course. But the whole trip is a big excuse to trail around North Am seeing individuals. We are going to Montreal to see just ~jwf~ and the bottom LH and RH corners are to see just individuals too. smiley - winkeye In fact the whole trip is a massive self-indulgence by two people with more time than sense. And you have NO IDEA how much I am looking forward to it!

*cheers*
