h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi there.

I'm polishing Year for the underguide. The draft is up at A2373275

I haven't changed the text at all, nor do I think it needs changing. But I took the '- a poem' out of the title. If you want it put back in I'll change it back. I don't think it needs to be there, but it's up to you.

Just want to say how much I like "Year". Which is to say, I like it "a lot" . Never feel quite comfortable about commenting on poetry beyond my personal response to it, seems to me such things never quite speak to one person in the same voice in which they speak to another, and hey, no-one wants to admit to hearing voices that no-one else does, after all .

Sorry, I didn't give you much time to respond, my fault entirely. Life really does get in the way sometimes. I didn't think you'd mind me passing it over to Jodan to go up, since there were no sbstantial changes to be made. I took 'a poem' out of the title precisely because it seemed to be there just for identification purposes in the aww. I'm glad I didn't offend you!

I don't know what the official line on making changes post polishing is but as far as I'm concerned if you want changes made to the UG copy I'm happy to make them. Just let me know.

I stand by my opinion that it is a really good poem. The images are vivid and capitvating. I like it precisely because there is so much room in it for the reader to interpret and respond. For me too writing is all about communication. It's a way of saying 'here's a bit of my view of the world how does it match up to yours?'

There were several people who posted on it when it came up on the Front Page a few days ago, and the consensus is flattering... I believe one of the others (not me) said it best in saying that it is a "seductive" poem. I found it very beautiful.
