Hiya! I'm VIP, one of the ACE's who flit around the site, welcoming new Researchers and trying to keep the place happy.
Welcome to h2g2! This place may seem big and daunting to begin with, but I'm sure that as you find your way around and meet people, you will realise that although it *is* huge, it's very friendly and people are more than happy to say hello! The best way to get to know h2g2 is to have a wander. Visit people's Spaces (mine's at U188069), follow their conversations and links and join in the fun!
The Search bar at the top of the page (the h2g2 one, not the BBC) is a good way of finding articles, and also pages dedicated to new researchers.
A note before you set out though, people are far more likely to get to know you if you choose a nickname. Click on the Preferences button (along the top or down the side of the page) and you can set a new one, and other things besides. That nickname will be what you are forever known as on h2g2 so be careful!
I'm here for you to call on, whether you want some help or a new friend! Just reply or come and visit me.
Have fun!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
