Paganism in Brief
Posted Jul 24, 2002
Someone posting here asked me to shed some light on what a Pagan believes, so I shall try to do just that...
The word 'Pagan' has many meanings (such as 'irreligious'), some more controversial and accepted in different circles than others, I am using it as a broad umbrella-term covering a wide range of religions.
The main (and perhaps only) similarity between these religions is a reverence for Nature as an expression and part of the Divine. Divinity can be seen in different ways; some Pagans are polythesic, while others are panthesic. A 'Pagan' can also be considered as someone not belonging to any of the 'accepted'/'established' religions of the world, such as Christianity or Judaeism.
Pagan religions include, but are not limited to the following:
Wicca, Witchcraft (these two are separated by some, lumped together by others), Druidry (though you can be a Druid and any religion, such as Christian, Buddhist, etc.), Asatru, Shamanism... and lots more.
I hate the fact that I kinda have to point this out, but it's the way the world is, sadly. Pagans, since they are not Christians, so not believe in any 'Satan' or 'Devil' or even a 'Hell', let alone worship this entity (a product of Christianity, therefor outside our beliefs entirely), so please don't tell us we worship 'Satan' or that we're going to 'Hell' for it. We don't criticise your religious beliefs (Pagans don't believe their religion is the 'only' one, we see that there are many different paths to the Divine, it's just a case of finding the right one for you.), so kindly return that courtesy. Thank you.

As you can see from the subject of this entry - I like to talk in song lyrics. ('Nature_1' by Muse in this instance.)
Anyways... I'm thinking I'm prolly gonna write entries for here on Flidais and being a "teenage Pagan", seeing as neith currently exist.
