I thought your short poem on being prepared for death on theBP thread was more than excellent - it was one of the best - if not the best - poem I've read on h2g2. It was beautiful, because the tone was so nicely judged - no sentimentality or self-pity - and it was authentic and true to yourself (at least at the time of writing).
Your poems on this page are also exceptionally good and authentic. For me the sine qua non of a really good poem is it's air of authenticity, of saying this is real. You have real talent.
Well done, and thankyou.
And I'm not being too kind in the slightest. I just love good poetry.

Wake up, Jabs. I'm not going to argue with you: "Poetry is the verdict" according to L Cohen, so I'll take your word for it.
I compose most of my stuff on the hoof, in the manner of Pooh, who is my role model - so they're mostly just "hums". But I hope they capture some essence of something - and I'm glad there's someone around who seems to appreciate them. Thank you.

You still around, Jabs? Haven't seen you on h2g2 for a long time - I've been absent myself for a quite a while - so was surprised and delighted to see that you're apparently online. Give us a wave.
