Tiger Susie Innuendo, Owlatron's CB!! Major project, major grief!!! Started conversation Aug 14, 2002
Hi, Phlooey,
The most life changing book I've ever read is Skallagrigg by William Horwood. I think everyone should be made to read it.

I hope you enjoy it.

I have to find it in the local library though and I have this other book I HAVE to read but then I'll let you know what I think of it.

What's the other book you HAVE to read?
And what other books have you particularly enjoyed?

That is a particularly open ended question, you asked. Anyhow I'll at the moment its a mixture of.
Catcher in the Rye, Franny and Zooey, Seymour an Introduction by J.D Salinger and soon I will have Nine stories by him also. Personally he is one of the best authors for me, Catcher in the Rye in particular.
Hitch hikers gtg of course wouldn't be here ( this is a lie ) if it wasn't for that particular book.
Lord of the Rings for making me wonder and dream.
If I were to reach back into my early days Roald Dahl.
I think that is roughly in ranking order if that is possible.

Ooh, I remember Catcher, good choice.
I think you need a particular mind-set to appreciate Salinger, though.
Is Nine Stories the book you HAVE to read?
Have you read Don't Panic? I took that on holiday with me. Worth a read.
Another author you might enjoy is R D Laing.
Try Skallagrigg, anyway, it did it for me!

Yep nine stories is the book I have to read. but isn't nine stories the same as For Esme with love and squalor, I think it is but the latter has the more intriguing name. Well I looked for skallagrig but it wasn't in my local library at the moment so I'll have it ordered
. Laing? What kind of books?
I'm reading at this very moment Jostein Gaarder - Through a Glass darkly (having already read Sophie's world). It's sad and depressing but in a interesting way.

Have you read Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach? If you haven't, you must.
Also, by the same author, Illusions. Absolutely beautiful! That might change your life (that's what you wanted, wasn't it?).
R D Laing is a psychologist; try reading The Facts of Life, quite thought-provoking.
