My dear old friend Z. showed up, and we went around the town visiting people I hadn't seen in years. Driving around in her 2003 red Grand Am with the radio blasting and the sunroof open, and beautiful blue summer sky with puffy clouds. I got a haircut, we went out to eat, and talked and laughed.
Around midnight we walked by the lake and talked about how life had changed... we met when we were 14 and were best friends, her brother was my first boyfriend, we bummed around the same crowd. Now she lives in Tennessee, and I've been gone for 3 or 4 years. Our old crowd is married, enlisted, college bound, or just plain dissapeared.
Lake Huron is best at night. The pier walk in our town is beautiful and safe even at the wee hours.
We crawled in at 1 am and crashed.
The day after was great, but not so perfect.
And today will be better still.... life is good.
