Since the time for your visit to Chicago is upon us, I just wanted to let you know that if you were still interested in meeting up with at least one fellow hootooer, I'm up for it. I'm pretty close to a fair amount of places which are nice to hang out at (and mobster-free, haha), so drop me a line if you're looking for another Chicagoan to hang out with.
Enjoy your visit!

Thanks pc - sorry I didn't get back to you before, all sorts of things cropping up at the last minute but I just arrived this afternoon, and already I'm having the marvellousest of times. Already I've gone out for a great dinner with Barton and his family, and Dillinger was nowhere to be seen.
I'll be around town pretty much any time next week once I've done the sightseeing thing.. so if you want to meet up and you know some good spots pick a venue and a time, and I'll be along.
Well, I'd better sleep this travel off - clock says 9pm, but body says 'what the bloody hell are you doing up at this hour?'
Take care

Hello again! Glad you made it here in one piece and all that! Anyway, I'm still free every day next week, so if there's anything at all you'd like to do while you're here, I'd be happy to meet up. Why don't you drop me an e-mail at [email protected], and let me know whereabouts in the city you're staying, and we can see about meeting up somewhere?
You look after yourself, too, and hopefully see you soon

Well... a year since we met, and what a year it's been, huh?
I remember us sitting in Miller's getting mildly toasted, while CNN counted down the hours to unilateral action. You were such sweet company, the perfect end to a wonderful holiday, and finally something good to remember Mother's day for.
I had such a lovely evening with you Cindy. I couldn't have imagined what would follow, or that you'd fly over twice in six months to be with me. I love you so much Thank you for falling into my life. You can't know the difference you've made.
Chris

Wow, well there's a blast from the past! How weird and awkward I felt, meeting up one-on-one with a complete stranger (and they don't get much stranger than you, my dear) with all of my issues! I'm so glad that after begging off several times, I did muster up the cojones to finally meet up with you.
I've been past Miller's Pub on many occasions since then, in my wanderings to the Art Institute and various "artsy" shops along Michigan and Wabash Aves, and it always brings back memories of a really fun evening. I remember lots of little details, like helping you cross the street properly (i.e., darting out in front of speeding taxicabs and praying they stopped...), carrying that damned sandwich from HOB around in my camo bag all evening (never did get the barbecue sauce smell out of it), and the way you smiled and lookd at me out of the corner of your eye, pretending to be all reserved and British. My only regret was not giving you a *real* kiss on the train platform, oh how I kicked myself all the way home!
Thank you, too, for stumbling into my life here and for all of the good you've done me. Once you're here, we'll have to have a nice dinner downtown and hit Miller's for some drinks, for "old time's sake" or soemthing. We could go to that poster shop and buy something sinfully unnecessary and artistic to spruce up the apartment, out humble little home.
I love you!
