Another y type (like myself!) I finished my maths degree this year... thank goodness! I don't think I could have managed another year of it.
What does oceanography involve? I guess it's a study of the ocean, but studying what? And which bits of Maths are you doing?
Sorry, this is sounding incredibly isn't it! What kind of books do you read?

Hello there
Due to my rather rubbish observation skills, I only just noticed this message!
Anyway, a belated to you on finishing your degree. I'm about to start my second year on Friday. Oceanography is a bit of a mixed bag really, we do some units of physicsy things like waves & tides, some biology and ecology, and some chemistry. I prefer the physical oceanograohy myself.
The maths I do is mostly applied stuff like calculus & vectors as they are useful in oceanograhy. We also did a stats unit which I found really boring.
Hmmm books.... I like non-fiction ones - some of my favourites are maths books by Ian Stewart. Fictionwise I like Michael Crichton, Hitchhiker's that sort of thing. At the moment I am reading The Trial by Kafka, but it's pretty heavy going...
Well, enough about me what are doing now that you've finished your degree?

ps again for not replying!

I'd completely forgotten about this post... Good to hear from you, anyway!
Euw! Stats! Deathly boring indeedy...
Ian Stewart Top bloke... and he's a Prof at Warwick, where I went!
Met him a few times, mainly at Discworld type things... I probably seen more of him out of uni than I saw when I was at Warwick!
What am I doing now? Well... looking for a job really. I've got a few weeks work back at uni (you'd think I might have escaped by now!) doing stuff on the website. Some of it is what I was doing when I was here (part-time, obviously!), some of it is writing a new set of pages for post-grad applications to do a particular course. All very exciting...
