I understood! I understood!smiley - diva

I tried studying Spanish once in some kind of evening class, but there had to be a minimum of 10 people in the group, and some of them didn't show up sometimes (without informing the teacher) and so the classes were cancelled every now and then - that, and the fact that some of the students were very slow learners (slowing down the whole group) made me give up

- but then, a couple of years ago, I tried something new: learn Spanish through singing!smiley - biggrin We'd learn to sing lullabies, folk songs, Flamenco (that's what made me interested in the first place!smiley - bigeyes), Christmas carols and all sorts of stuff - the text was more easily memorized when singing it together with music

What we learnt that way was whole phrases (and single words) rather than spelling and grammar - which means that sometimes I understand, and sometimes not!smiley - smiley

Some of the phrases I learnt aren't of course all *that* useful in everyday life - how about 'niƱo de mi corazon'? [roughly: the man of my smiley - love]

Anyway - any specific comments/suggestions for the 'Spicing up' entry? Titania and I are always looking for feedback, but we don't get much - maybe because it's already perfect?smiley - tongueout

Yar...tis a good way to learn a language. It won't give you fluency as such, but it will give you a good bit of understanding.. Students don't seem to do too well in groups smiley - erm

I'm in Spanish 2, it's all spelling and grammar pretty much. Not horribly hard, but rather technical. Glad you managed to go a different route !!smiley - biggrin

It's been a bit since I looked at it, but at the time I thought it was quite perfect. It is really simple for a newbie to understand as well, which makes it more valuable. I'll go look at it and see if I can suggest anything...

Quille - could I ask you something, considering you were so quick to respond when I accused ACEs of ignoring replies from ACEes?

A week after I had posted in the ACEs' yahoo e-group - and the newcomer still having no response - I posted on both ACEs personal page

ACE A replied that he had been away during the holidays (which I had noticed when checking his conversations) but that he would immediately reply to the newcomer - which he did!smiley - smiley So far, so good....

ACE B has been online several times after my posting in the e-group, even just a few hours ago. I left the same message on her user page that I left on A's page - but she hasn't even bothered replying to my little reminder, nor bothered to reply to the newbie she ACEd - and I'm feeling just a little bit annoyed by this lack of response - am I being overly touchy? (it's soon *that* time of the month....)

I don't know. The fact that ACE B did not respond to you makes it a bit less of a thing to get mad about one would think. I don't know the ACE in question, though so I can't know if it is just their attitude or what it may be. She could have missed all the things completely? Probably not, but oh well.
I think I would be a bit annoyed as well.
If you haven't checked already, you may wish to see if she has made other ACEings since then. If she has, you may want to see if she replies to them, and if she has, maybe she just forgot one, and incidentally missed your message on her PS. I'm not sure what you could do at this point, but you think that if she got a reply she'd jump at it like a fish to bait, or at least would resign from being an ACE! smiley - erm People are confusing sometimes...
Sorry I couldn't help much in reply, but I think it is not the time of the month but the very essence of what she is doing that is making you mad.

Phew! Thank you - that was a very nice reply!smiley - hug

Maybe I should just post a reply to the reminder I posted to bring it up to the top of her conversation list?

Imagine - not acting when an ACEe responds - hallooo!! How often does that even happen - that a newbie notices your ACE greeting and even replies to it? I'd be thrilled!smiley - bigeyes

I just realized that ACE A's recent reply should have brought that specific conversation up to the top of her conversations list - and *still* she didn't react....smiley - erm

Maybe because ACE B only discovered your post an hour ago..&..was following general ACE advice..not to reply when angry..to go away and calm down..before replying..Kristina..if you take the time..to look on your own page..instead of checking up on other ACEs'..you will find some..that you have not replied to..(glass houses and stones..come to mind)..surprise..surprise..none of us are perfect..smiley - smiley..

Oh..and for your information..I didn't ACE that Reseacher..I simply made a comment about something in their intro. then bowed out & left it to the ACE who had ACEd them..

Aye..I get ya Emmily. Sorry if I said anything that sounded slanderous. Was going on the assumption that the ACE had seen it and decided not to reply (though they hadn't exactly ACEd at all it seems?).
But I'll back out of this conversation now as it seems to be getting a bit hostile and I seem to have no idea what I am talking about.

Emmily - I wasn't checking up on other ACEs - I believe I mentioned in the ACEs' e-group that I was checking new researchers with 2 asterisks from a month back to make sure that at least one of the conversations on their user pages would be from an ACE - so many ACEs just visit newcomers with one asterisk

Quille - sorry to be burdening you with Emmily's and my discussion - for some reason (OK, most probably my fault for having the audacity to discuss this with someone else besides her) Emmily decided to unsubscribe from the conversation I started on her user page and instead move the discussion into this thread - I'll make an attempt to move it back to Emmily's page again

Emmily - if you miss the new conversation I've started on your user page, like you missed the previous one, here's a link:

Eh..I don't mind having a discussion here...it's just that it's not exactly something I can comment on, as I'm not sure exactly what's happening and don't want to offend anyone by saying something that absolutely could not have happened that I didn't know about because I have no clue.

Perhaps both of you should say the complete stories from your point of view (as it happened to you) so that everything can be a bit clearer?

For instance, if Emmily missed a message or purposely didn't reply to it for some reason or other. Or that she didn't actually ACE the user, or if in fact she had ACEd a user, or whatever happened, and forget entirely about what the other person is arguing against you about.

(Yes I know it sounds wierd, but it's my posed solution...use it or not..it doesn't matter.)
