Hi Jez,
I am still about but I have flounced off the Moral Majority thread for a while. In practically every discourse lately I seem to have attracted ad hominem statements. These I don't like and won't take lying down.
I made a jokey comment about being the only scialist on the thread and received a stinging reply from someone I thought I was friends with, even if we disagree about practically everything. So I laid down my credentials and am now the subject of further haranguing.
Well don't need it, won't have it and so I've flounced.
Blessings,
Matholwch .

It was a bit OTT but not flouncing.
Maybe just take a deep breath and leave the discussions except when you really feel the need to join in, rather than leaving for good.
I would miss you if you left permanently, though due to the circumstances you know about I have not been there enough myself. So maybe the lack of back-up has been part of it - if so, I am sorry. I will try to do better in future...

Email me off list if you want to chat. Here, in public, I don't really feel that I want to talk about the things that matter.

Hi Jez ,
I'm not leaving h2g2, just going to give that crowd a rest for a while. Without a raving monotheist to have fun with they seem to be turning their attention towards my position, and I honestly can't be bothered.
As for being OTT I have always been an extremist .
I have never expected you to back me up, especially when I am in fights of my own making. Though it's been nice when there have been more of us mad theists giving them what-for.
I shall try and give you a ring tonight if I can, we haven't chinwagged for a while.
Bright blessings,
Matholwch .

Hmmm...
Well, I would never back you up /simply/ because we are both pagan. But that overlap of views which comes with the pagan territory gives us more likelihood of sharing interests, experiences and reactions to events. So there are many times when I have felt that we should stand together on an issue, and I have not been there for all of them, by any means.
I am not a socialist, by most definitions. I do not accept the ideas concerning property, for one thing. I agree with private ownership, and with the use of a person's money primarily by and for that person.
However, as a social being, I would also /choose/ to support social needs. It is part of my religion to support those truly unable to deal with society, though it is not part of my make up to support those who simply choose to be a social burden.
To each according to his/her needs and from each according to her/his ability is fine in theory, but hard in practice.
I am isolationist, minimalist, practical, spiritual...
Tell me where I fit?

You fit fine in the tribe called Brython.
A tribe holds all important community property in common, yet allows each member to hold those important things they will call their own.
A member of a tribe never has to fear old age or infirmity, for the tribe provides. No one has to fear coping with sick children or aged relations alone, for the tribe shares these burdens.
This is what we have lost and must find again.
Blessings,
Matholwch .

Do we need to find a place, or is the world sufficiently small for Brython to exist even though geographically spread?
There are times when I know I am too far away, even when I am next-door geographically, and there are times when I feel hugged when I am alone in the house.
Does a community have to have a commune??
