Well it's April now, but I cannot think of anything to say.

Movie idea
Posted Apr 1, 2003
The film starts with the collapse of the World Trade Centre in September 2001. It's very dramatic.
Cut to: the BBC. A group of analysts is worried about the UK's morale, and decides to make a special edition of Terry and June to cheer everyone up. June Whitfield is up for it, but Terry Scott is, alas, dead. One of the executives has a bright idea.
Cut to: detailed information on how the BBC used CGI technology to computer-generate Terry Scott.
Cut to: computer generated Terry Scott acting on set. A dolly grip is so moved by the acting that a single tear rolls down her cheek and drops onto the computer, short-circuiting a vital chip. Suddenly, the computer goes haywire and Terry Scott breaks out of his programming and starts killing people.
Cut to: London under siege, as a deranged Terry Scott storms through the capital unleashing terrible violence upon the people. Sky scrapers fall in a chilling echo of the start of the movie.
Cut to: the year 2052. The universe is ruled by one super-computer, all organic life is wiped out, and the ground is scorched and smoking. The camera pans up from the crushed skulls that litter the floor to show a triumphant Terry Scott sitting in a giant cybernetic throne. He cackles. Above the throne, written in latin, is the Queen's motto: "Man's folly shall be his own destruction".
Roll credits.
Problems:
1. Is Terry Scott dead?
2. Rather high budget - but we could cross-market Terry Scott's data for a series of "Walking with Terry Scott" for the BBC.
3. Did the BBC even make Terry and June?
4. Can we arrange for a computer generated Terry Scott to truly go insane and destroy the planet, thus the film will count as a documentary and will have greater chance of winning an Oscar (less competition in that category)?
5. How can we change the Queen's motto to "Man's folly shall be his own destruction" without arousing suspicion?

Excellent use of 'both' in my last entry.

Diary
Posted Dec 2, 2002
Am maintaining my diary with my traditional enthusiasm.
Since my last entry, I have both 'discovered' gin, directed a play at the Edinbugh Festival, and grown rather weary of gin.
Next update due April 2003.

Amazon
Posted Jun 6, 2002
I ordered two DVDs from Amazon in the US, but got the address wrong. They flew all the way out to Forest Hill, London and then flew all the way back again.
Amazon sent me an *apology* and refunded the cost of the items *plus* the eight dollars it cost to mail them to me in the first place. I was just thinking how great Amazon was (especially since I re-placed the order, and thanks to recent discounts it came out ten dollars cheaper) when I stumbled across their "Share The Love [TM]" feature. If this is irony, it's a joke too close to the bone. If it's not irony, it's just darn nasty.
