Hi there Rickbot!
So, are you intrigued? Shall I intrigue you further? Why not, I say, I know you didn't but what the hell, I'm like that.
OK: clues to mutual friend.
--Its a he.
--He's quite well known on hootoo, mostly by what he produces in his role as....no, that's far too easy, I am told you're quite a bright little sod.
--You have probably been spotted together lurking in various pubs of ill repute in Brighton.
--You were certainly lurking in a London pub with him less than a week ago; he was possibly boring you senseless by going into raptures about some strange creature he had met on hootoo & dreams of fame & glory in unlikely sounding French towns.
I'm pretty sure you've got it by now! I'm told you don't pop into hootoo much, but if you happen to go trotting past, do stop by & say hello; if nothing else I can at least talk to someone else on here who knows him "in the flesh" so to squeak!
Terri.

If you *are* passing by, Rickbot, be advised: the Brighton bit is a red herring, a funny little blushing fish. Shouldn't think it would put you off, mind. All the other clues are startlingly accurate.

Hey Terri - sorry to take so long to respond. The Rickbot1 BBC username has been lost in the mists of time, and the BBC didn't seem particularly interested in helping me hunt it down (I believe they have been busy with the Hutton enquiry, so I won't hold it against them). I have now upgraded to Rickbot-238086, an altogether shinier unit.
I hope you are having/have had a good time in London?

Hi Rickbot,
Yes, having a great time, difficult to get my head round the spimcoot English Mac; new keyboards and passwords are always a pain in the derrierre aren't they?
BUT, the gain is worth the pain.
*hunts for exclamation mark and ampersand and asterix, reflects this may alter journalistic style for the better*
London still somewhat of a Scary metropolis, but spim doing a great job on the positive bits such as Tate Modern, to the extent that I'm ...er...still here, so do say hi, it would be nice to hear from you!
(seen the beerglass. Not the tee shirt.)

spimcoot calling:
The Rickbot-238086? Is that the model with the magnetic space to keep paperclips or I am getting confused with the Wayne 238? Terri is still here which is a lovely treat. See you soon.

You can tell I am a novice on h2g2 since I still haven't figured out how to make the smileys, although the humble exclamation mark is easily within my grasp: !
And again: !
As Oscar Wilde said, "To use one exclamation mark makes the point! To use three is a sign of madness!!!" Or maybe I made that up. Wilde can be so opaque.
So - the secret to being able to function in London despite it being a bustling and grey sprawling metropolis is to find a nice, cozy underground bar where you can retreat with your friends and pretend you're not in London.

The Rickbot-238086 comes with hoover attachments, which can be handy in bed (when biscuit crumbs become a nuisance). It also has a polished walnut dashboard.
For the good of your cartooning, please spend as much time with your muse as possible.

What a lovely sentiment! I am sure he will be highly amused!
I am pretty much an expert at the idiots guide to smileys, can we swap notes in this cozy and hopefully bar sometime soon, maybe you can let me into the secret of his undeniably cute but unfathomable computer?
(for those not in the know, it appears to BREATHE for one thing, when I mentioned this, spim said " but it always does that when it's asleep....")
--it also seems to bounce joyfully when it goes wrong, which is often.
Ah well. no doubt Oscar could come up with a suitable quote for that one too.
Experienced the delights of the Barbican maze today, didn't actally get as far as seeing any artwork but the dimly lit lifts were some kind of performance art I suppose!
All jolly good fun!
Terri.

Are you suggesting - shock horror! - that Spim might let me actually meet you?! That would be most excellent. (Gratuitous use of smiley: ) Perhaps Spim could suggest a cozy bar, since he is familiar with the best of them?
Alas there is no smiley for robots.
R-bot.

*giggle*
I am distinctly amused at the thought that he might have imagined I could, should or would be kept closeted away in his private dungeon!
Why should the rest of the world be deprived of the chance of a jolly good ter? (see how useful these smileys are?)
No, I am sure that with a smidgin of arm-twisting he could be persuaded to allow me to be displayed, maybe best if you don't arrive by horseback though, or at least not one of a nervous disposition!
OK, back to the pleasures of The Secret World of Spimville, having been exposed to Flo and Squirt, we are onto the Latin series, which seems to involve a good deal of anguish, gore and handsome chaps writhing in torment.
Jolly good I say, both Oscar and Enid would approve!
squeak soon
Terri.

Glad to hear your trip to London is going so well - sounds like you've found quite a pleasing souvenir to take home with you!
