Hi there
Welcome to h2g2! I'm one <./>aces</.>, and I get to extend an official welcome to the site to you from the <./>team</.> here at h2g2.
I think the most important thing to say is don't be shy- just jump in to any conversation. Visit the front page and the read, talk and contribute sections by clicking the buttons on the nav bar - you'll find things like which are todays edited entries, and where the community is talking and all sorts of cool stuff.
My other tip is visit the <./>smiley</.> page for all the wonderful smileys you can do - millions (it seems) little pictures to adorn your conversation postings and personal space! Click on any smiley in a conversation to see how it's typed...
& if you need any help or just want to chat, click reply I've always wanted to visit Chicago...
Share and Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome, especially when you're in the middle of exams.
I've not explored your space much - I know that you're seeking higher education somewhere, but not where or for what; I know that you're building character via housemates from Hell; and I gather that you've been with the Guide for a while.
At the risk of drawing you from your serious work, what do you study (and why), where are you and why not visit Chicago? Granted, the Guide is a bit light on Chicago-related material, but I hope to correct that....

I'm currently in Durham, UK, madly revising for Physics and Astronomy Finals... Why? because it seemed like a good idea at the time (3 years ago)... Durham is a good place to be. Its very picturesque, with a massive cathedral...
I haven't yet been to Chicago because I haven't yet had a)the money for the air fare and b) someone else to go with who also has the money for the air fare. However, I intend to remedy this in the next couple of years by getting a job (!) then I shall visit the place where nearly all my favourite fiction happens (VI Warshawski; ER)
I'll probably reinstate the more informative version of my space on Saturday... I've been with h2g2 for about 2 and a half years now, which is kind of scary, and quite impressive for the "stickyness" of the site...
I look forward to reading about the real Chicago. Two of my housemates went there last summer, but weren't really too informative about it...
