I do play cribbage (though I'm not a pro yet) and can't imagine getting all that detail into a cake. Amazing!
I've never been much of a baker, so the only thing I really do well at this point is my carrot cake, which everyone loves. But it's never decorated.
Though I suppose I could manage one in my little convection oven if I was making it in different pieces to be assembled just prior to frosting.
But do I have the patience? Artistic and DIY stuff tends to defeat me. I get flustered when it doesn't work out according to my Great Vision, and then I unleash my wrath on the offending object. I can imagine poor K coming home and finding bits of cake on the ceiling.

We've been meaning to make my boss (an expert on architectural history) a gingerbread Greek temple for Christmas - may actually have to give that a go!

It would have to have gummy bear friezes and everything...

Sounds like you already have a plan, Mala... what are you waiting for? You can use Lakritz-schnecken (er... liquorice snails?) for some of the decoration too.

But are you already drawing up the blueprints?

Christmas is closer than you think, Mala. Only 4 months and a bit.

I can't even begin to think about Xmas nonsense when it's 80° + out.
That said, we may do Xmas Eve ourselves again this year, unless K's sister and BIL and the kids come to town. I enjoyed it that way last year, just K and I, the sprouts and potatoes, and a whole lot of silly British TV (Father Ted, Bottom, etc). This year, we'd have a Dr Who to do, too.

We're just watching an unusual little film called "The Telephone Book". It's engaging, but kind of silly.

Well, the synopsis is that a young lady receives an obscene phone call, falls "in love" with the caller, and tries to track him down. It's fairly naughty, but it tries a bit too hard.

It's really not that great. While I have no particular problems with Blue movies, this one was rather silly and peurile about it all, IMO. But I could probably get a copy to you, if you wanted to see it. Though you might not want to watch with the G-Force.
