Everyone seems to like "Chickens Have Rights", but you're the only person I've shared those with who's actually mentioned "The Ballad of Charles Whitman"... that's a great tune!
I'm glad you liked them- and you're very welcome!! K will be tickled to hear that you especially liked one of his personal faves.
Any time.

I like that one very much!
I waited till G-force and Geo were outa the house this morning to listen to them in peace and upset the neighbours with unreasonable volume control
I feel virtuous and self satisfaction in having my muzik loud..when they can move house at 4am in the morning from next door to above us Can't wait for one of them to ask me to turn it down.. So I can justify it...and The Geezers are rather loud..and must be heard at a high level to get the full punk jump around and bang into each other effect.
We have full on surround sound with a separate thingy for the bass forget what it's called now..
Heee

It's actually a cover, but I can't remember who did it originally. Will have to refresh my memory and get back to you on that...
I think the bass thingy () might be a sub-woofer. We haven't got surround sound yet, but it's on the list, along with a whole new stereo system. Which I still keep slipping and calling a "hi-fi", which makes everyone laugh at how old I am.
I like playing the music loud when no one else is home, but we're lucky enough that our neighbors don't make noise at 4:00 AM often, so I don't blast them out. I used to blast out the kids who lived downstairs previous to these people- those kids were noisy, filthy and all around ignorant.
Well, enjoy the CDs in good health! Glad to share!

Just remembered who originally did "The Ballad of Charles Whitman". 'Twas Kinky Friedman. In case you wanted to download or something.
Here's the story behind the song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Whitman

Fascinating, innit?
Listened to the Kinky Friedman version (the original) at home last night. I may be unfairly biased, but I think the Geezers cover is cooler.
How's things in the Big Apple? How're you enjoying the new neighborhood overall (besides the pool, and idiotic school bus drivers)?

Pretty quiet this weekend, was very lethargic due to antihistimines and they don't even work that well, shall have to try something else... it sucks being allergic...what do you use, just out of curiosity?
Luckily I have access to top pharmacists to ask for advice n' stuff....but you never know, you might have something that they or I haven't heard of. I'm always willing to try something new.
Geo was stroppy last week, I think he was having a male period, anyway a bottle of tequila and the dvd 'Lost' series sorted that out, and we spent most of the weekend watching that!
We went to a friends birthday bash Saturday night in honour of her 3 yr old...and in celebration I got thro a six pack of orange smirnoff..*yum* hicc G-force played on a quad bike...and Geo's friend 'The Engineer'...chased him round the tables on a lawnmower - one of those sit down ones - hilarious
I took G-force to play tennis at the local courts up the road and managed to drag Geo along too, who was rather surprised that he likes it..so I had to buy more rackets..heeee!
Going to work in a few hours... just catching up on here now.. How was your weekend?

>it sucks being allergic...what do you use, just out of curiosity?<
I take OTC Claritin, and have a prescription for Singulair. For contact dermatitis, I use a hydrocortisone ointment. The Singulair works well, but at $111 a month, it's expensive as hell!
My weekend was pretty nice! Hung out at home mostly, ran a few errands Saturday and never even got out of our jammies yesterday. Hung around watching movies and listening to some tunes, mostly. And cleaned up cat puke. We got him some new Purina cat chow for fat cats, and it has some kind of hairball stuff in it, he's been horking them up ever since. But, it's got extra fiber in it. Hope it won't make him poop green.
Wow, Smirnoff and tequila, you two party hard! Hope Geo's over his male PMS and things are back to being nice-nice. Have a great Monday!!

Claritin (loratadine) doesn't work for me at all.
Currently on super strength Benadryl (diphendramine) which is just making me a lil dizzy, and have the runs.
May try Allegra (fexofenadine) next and then Cetrizine - can't remember off the top of my head the generic for that one
I've gone thro antihistimines before but can't remember which ones work being as I haven't had them for a while
Vic's nasal just makes it worse, flonase isn't too bad..if I remember rightly..
Singular didn't work for me, glad it works for you tho! I remember suggesting that somewhere on another thread
Ugh - furballs..she hasn't hawked one up yet that I can see anyhow!

Hey-lo!!
Sorry it's been so long between replies. Lost track over the past hectic week!
Singulair works like a charm for me. Unfortunately, it's also super-expensive! A thirty-day supply costs me $111. But at least I can breathe easy!
I'd read somewhere online that antiinflammatory medicaines were contraindicated in asthmatics. Have you head anything to that effect? I asked my doctor and he said it's a load of b/s, as did my pharmacist. Of course, I've never noticed any interactions or negative side effects, but better safe than sorry, I guess!
How's things, besides your mouse being on the fritz?

Bloody hell...it's such a pain in the ARSE...without a working mouse..
FUCK!!!
There that feels better, even if I do get modded...
BUGGER!!!
It's such a chore to navigate without a mouse...grrr...
No worries about time and stuff inbetween replies...I've been sporadic lately and now this...jeez...
Glad the singulair is working for you...I'm trying it again...and it seems to be working-ish..last time I must have had a cold or something..I also broke into a rash too..but that could have been something entirely different...it doesn't seem to be happening now.
I still sneeze allot and get snuffly with a nasal drip I have been trying zyrtec, but the thing is I need insane amounts of both singulair and the zyrtec - shall have to ask again for advice.
I'm sorry it costs so much for you..these things should be free, considering that it's health issue for all...because of lack of knowledge in the past of what we were/and still in some cases - doing to our environment and we are paying for it now. We pay enough taxes, sort it out...GRRR!
Hell I'm still reaching for the mouse....
Anyhow...yes on our medex (a nifty program at work that tells you all about the drug and lists previous generic names etc) says that there are contraindications for singulair and asthmatics. I haven't heard of any cases either...but that doesn't mean to say that it can't happen...dunno...I suppose they have to test a certain amount of asthmatics when they do their fda testing..and for all we know they could have been hypochondriacs or it was particulary dusty that day..who knows...you can never have enough data - too many variables...speshally with humans with baggage and health issues and a large dictionary of whines and sensitivities!!

>Anyhow...yes on our medex (a nifty program at work that tells you all about the drug and lists previous generic names etc) says that there are contraindications for singulair and asthmatics.<
Weird, since Singulair is an asthma medication!
I'll just keep taking my Singulair, my Claritin, and my Naproxen until I see a negative side effect.
Bummer that you have to take both Singulair and Zyrtec. I couldn't take Zyrtec- had an allergic reaction. Glad to know, though, I'm not the only ornery enough cuss to be allergic to the allergy meds!
Sorry about the mouse. Swear till you feel better, I'm not gonna mod you and I doubt anyone else is reading this!

Well the mice are cheap, shall just get another at some point...speaking of which, I found one in the store room of the pharmacy I have now liberated..shall be taking it to it's new home tonite lets hope it works...
I spoke to the pharmacist again and she said if none of the allergy meds are working just stick with the one that alleviates it the best and call it done. I have direct contact allergic reactions
I knew this, I just thought that by now, something should have been invented you know - I was just kidding myself.

I really do hope that you'll get the asthma under better control.
I was just visiting the American Lung Association's site, but I didn't see any info that I thought would be of much use to you.
I did speak wth my doctor this morning, and he assured me that only about 20% of people with asthma are effected by aspirin or naproxen sodium, and those people most likely have an allergy or sensitivity to those meds independent of the asthma. He's assured me that there is NO reason whatsoever that I shouldn't continue on my anti-inflammatory meds and my asthma meds.
Since starting the Singulair in conjunction with the Claritin, I haven't had a single asthma attack, not even wheeziness or anything. I hope you'll find something that gives you the same results. I wouldn't wish anything as crappy as an asthma attack on anyone, leastwise someone I like (like you).

Thanks!
It's not so much the asthma outa control, it's the sneezin' and itchy eyes that gets up my nose! I'm resigned now.
Aspirin doesn't affect my asthma or Naproxin (midol) which is a good thing, or ibruprofin....considering I work in a pharm you'd think I'd know how to spell all of these acurately...and no I don't...even after a year or so..
Glad the singulair is working out for you

>it's the sneezin' and itchy eyes that gets up my nose!<
Bleargh! I hate that, too. Especially when the sinuses are super pressurized and you feel like your whole face is gonna explode...
One of the other executive assistants at work gave me a couple of Sudafed for mine last week, and it about knocked me on my ass for the whole afternoon. Sheesh!
I think that the Claritin isn't working as well for me as it used to. I've been getting a lot more itchy eyes and hives. Zyrtec is the purple one, right? I'm allergic to the dye. So, Ms. Pharmacist, is there another med available with the same active ingredient as Zyrtec without the same dye? If there is, I'll look it up and see if I can glom a sample or something.
Hang in there, kiddo, we'll have frost soon enough and then there'll be nuffin left for you to be allergic to!
How's the doing? And G and the G-Force?

Researcher 556780 Posted Oct 2, 2005
Benadryl does that to me..knock me out... I don't know if it works well or not...coz I'm asleep...so I guess in that respect it alleviates the suffrin'..
errr...zyrtec (cetirizine) isn't purple...not unless this screen is messing with my optics and I can't tell the difference!!
There is another antihistimine that I can think of...fexofenadine (allegra) can't remember if I've tried that one...I'm getting really confused now, with what I have and haven't tried...I'm making a list! There are others too..off the top of my head, no I don't know them.
I'm a long way from becoming a pharmacist..altho I wouldn't mind studying to be one...
As for G-force he's fine and getting 100% on all his tests, and loving school!
Geo is well just Geo.. Never enough sex or beer...
The cat is psychotic...we should have called her Kato...have you seen the pink panther and Clouseu's side kick...well she stalks us..and launches at the most imoportune times... scares you when you forget she's around and suddenly there's a black fiend jumping at you or hanging from your trouser leg..
