Hey there! I've heard the Strokes, the White Stripes, and the Hives. They're all pretty cool- I think I like the Hives best. Will check out the Vines- thanks for the suggestion!
You've got a killer music selection yourself. There's a few on your list I've heard of but haven't listened to (Spacemen 3, the Orb for example) that I'll be wanting to check out soon. You're one of two people I know besides myself who listens to 60's ska... Toots rocks!! I haven't listened to Hawkwind or MC5 in ages...
Catch ya later,

hey, psycocandy
The Vines actually remind me of BRMC crossed with Queens of the stone age!
The Orb are ambient dance, very slow, with a big dub influence.
Spaceman 3 are guitar drone Stooge boys, with an alarming habit of riffing two chords for ten minutes (with very little solos but huge slabs of distortion) They've done about 3 albums which are all patchy affairs but make a f****ing killer compilation CD.
One of the members was Jason Pierce who of course left to form Spiritulisied.

Hey, Superdogmonkey,
I checked out all three of the bands mentioned- The Hives, the Orb, and Spacemen 3. I liked the Hives, bought the CD. Spacemen 3 sounds pretty cool but need to listen to a bit more before I buy anything. The Orb was all right but the bits I heard were a little too slow even for me! Thanks for the suggestions!

Hiya Psychocandy!
I've just started subbing your BRMC entry. I've heard one of their tunes - I'll have to check their album out sometime. Anyway, the entry. Just a few wee comments...
Which guy plays git and which one bass? I'm assuming they both sing.
Please give more details of the East Bay area to non-locals.
How does your average San Franciscan get to listen to Jesus & Mary Chain and the Roses? I mean, this is a slightly off-tack set of influences, from a Californian point of view.
How successful has the debut album been?
OK, that's all for now,
Jack

Oh.
It's been hidden! This presumably because of the words 'trippy' and 'psychedelic', which are trigger words I believe. Remove them, and there won't be a problem...

Hi, Jack! Thanks for the comments. Both Peter Hayes and Robert Turner sing, and play both guitar and bass, I know they switchoff when playing live but not sure if they did on the album or not. As to how one from Cali gets to like the Mary Chain and Stone Roses- I dunno, same way I did? There's still a lot of good indie and college radio stations around...
I'll investigate a bit and see if I can find anything where one of the guys says how they came to be influenced by said bands, and also perhaps some stats on the album's success. As to the East Bay area, what sort of details do you think I might include?
I looked at it today, and it didn't seem to have been hidden, but I suppose if I had to I could try to substitute those two words. Not sure I could get the point across as well, but will try if necessary.
Thanks again !!

No need to change the words. It was a broken link that caused it to be modded. Must dash...

Ah... I had noticed the broken link immediately after I was notified that it had been picked... and I edited it on my page. I had put an underscore where I ought to have put a dash. Is there a way for me to fix it for you as well?
Will be looking into those other questions for you...
Thanks,
psycho

Forgot to mention, BRMC were over here last month doing the festivals and they played Love Spreads on tv as a 3 piece!
Still sounded good though.

I've tracked the album down, and they sound pretty groovy. Thy're plating Reading later this month - but I'll be in China by then. More tomorrow...

Any more to add? It's just I want to get my entries tied up before I go to China...

I was going to add some of the additional info you'd suggested, but things have been a bit hectic around here lately. I will do what I can and have it done by Friday. Sorry.

I do have one quick question, though. What I read on the Sub-Editors Process page, I took to mean that any changes made at this time would have to be made by you. Should I just post any additional info I come up with here, or do I add it to the entry on my page? I'm just about ready.

It'll probably be easier if you just edit the entry normally, as long as it's this one: A794504
Then I can check through what you've done, and that'll be that! But I'm off home in a minute or two...

Hello again! Unless I'm hallucinating, there is no "Edit Entry" button on that page. I have, however, made some modifications to the original entry. I'd be glad to edit A794504 if only I could figure out how.

Dammit!
In that case, it's probably best to just post your changes here, and then I can stick them in.

Here are three small changes. The first two, you'll know where they go. The last part goes second to last, between the album track list and the last paragraph. If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know.
The band consists of Peter Hayes and Robert Turner, who share the responsibilities of guitar, bass, and vocals, and Nick Jago on drums and percussion.
While attending high school in the East Bay area of San Francisco, Peter Hayes and Robert Turner discovered they shared a passion for early 90's UK music, and began writing music and playing together.
The album has been very popular on the college radio charts, and was certified gold on June 11, 2002. The band has been busy touring, playing many sold-out shows throughout the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Japan, and Canada. They have appeared on a number of TV shows, and the video for "Whatever Happened to My Rock 'N' Roll (Punk Song)" has received frequent airplay on MTV2.
