Hi from a fellow forty-something vegan who happens to be a mother of two. I hope you enjoy your holiday in Peru and tell us all about it in your h2g2 diary on your return.

Hi Gwennie - nice to meet you.
I survived my trip to Peru - didn't manage all of the trek though - got ill. But I made it to Machu Picchu in the end. I'll get round to putting it all on my space soon.
xx

Welcome back! Sorry to hear that you fell ill and hope that you're fully recovered.
Was it easy to stick to a vegan diet whilst in Peru?

Hi,
I didn't actually get to eat all that much while I was in Peru - I got gastro enteritis and just didn't feel like eating all that much. When I did it was usually provided by the trek company and they were catering for me anyway - usually buffets with lots of potatoes, pasta and rice along with some salads - although I had to ask for them without dressing sometimes. When I did eat out I had pasta with tomato sauce - or - in a posh restaurant in Lima - roast vegetables.
I have written some bits about my adventures in a comversation with Donone1 ("hi there") if you're interested. He doesn't mind if other people read it (it'd be tough if he did really!) although it was written to him. I'm going to get round to taking bits from there to put in my space soon anyway.

Thanks...I'll pop across and take a peek.
Pasta and salad is what I mainly lived when I went to Malta ...That and lots of ! I did find a supermarket that I had to travel miles to reach that sold soya milk though but it was very expensive.
Key: Complain about this post
