Hi there, and welcome to h2g2! I'm fords, one of the Assistant Community Editors and Gurus round here, an official meeter and greeter if you like, and I also help out with the more technical sides of the site.
First up, if you'd like to create a more imaginative name, you can change it from your Researcher Number by going into the Preferences tab at the top of the screen. Anything goes, but keep it clean! 
Next, your Personal Space. If you're not sure how to set it out or what to put on it, why not have a look at other researchers' spaces? Another trick is to learn <./>GuideML</.> to make your space look prettier, it's very similar to HTML and very easy to use.
If you're stuck for places to go, which I can see is probably not the case 
why not pop over to my own page?
