h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Welcome indeed, Doc, to this the omnipresent, omnipotent, omniverous answer to life, the universe and everything ... yes the earth bound but ethereally available H2G2.

I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and it is my and my fellow ACEs responsibility to scuttle around the guide looking for people who may be lost and generally helping them find their way around. We can answer most questions that you may have, some questions you may not have and almost all of the questions that you never even thought about. If we can't answer them then they're probably not important .

There is no hard and fast method of making the most of this, the magnum opus of our time, but I have to say that the easiest way of getting to grips with how things happen is to write an entry and see what people say. Whether it's on the mating habits of the White Rhino or Belly Button fluff, there is bound to be someone out there who has something extra to add ... just click here --> http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/randomentry and you can see what kind of things get written and the kind of conversations they attract.

Loiter/lurk around conversations and when you feel ready to add something, do. Before long, people will want to know who you are and what you do to live, ride and survive and will undoubtedly post a little something on your homepage. None of us bite (except the s but even they're only trying to be friendly).

With regard to smiley type people, when it comes to guide ML the format is <SMILEY TYPE="smiley"/> but for conversations etc it's simply the name of the smiley surrounded by < and > ... so to get "biggrin" (for example) you type '<' biggrin '>' and Robert is your fathers brother. click on any smiley to go to the smiley homepage and see what's on the menu.
