I shall start thinking about the leader of everyone's favourite murderous horde this week. I did some first research, and there is loads of good stuff out there.

I'll look forward to reading it. 
Did you happen to see the NHK production of a few (probably quite a few) years back? I think it was called Mongol Horde, or something like that. It did a great job of presenting a sense of the scale of good old Chingis' achievement; though it probably did take an occasional liberty with what a stickler might think of as historical fact. Still, it was great television.
